So much to offer,

The Bon Appetit cookbook is great, it covers sooo much and all the recipes are Bon Appetit favourites so you know they're good. Often times, when I'm not sure what I want to make, I'll just browse the bon Appetit book until I find something I like, which never takes long. An excellent addition to any collection.

I'm a fussy buyer of cookbooks, I take my time and consider the value. I judge a cookbook to have value if it provides simple to follow recipes that are not to be found elsewhere, pushing my palate and cooking skills enough for me to want to plow through 1200 recipes. I looked at dozens and dozens of books -Joy of Cooking (the 75th is superb but...not very challenging), and many fashion forward edgy cookbooks (some just down right strange like Alinea (guess food shouldn't look too much like food for these days). This cookbook sits somewhere closer to Joy of Cooking than Alinea. But it's a much more interesting adventure. You will love every recipe - just randomly here are the names of some -- pumpkin-cheese pancakes, sea bass with watercress sauce, cumin pork roast with mushroom sauce, double chocolate-orange cheesecake. My only quibble is that there aren't many photos and it'd be nice to visualize each recipe. I bet you will reach for this cookbook before you reach for others.
