I love Miss Vickie's Pressure Cooker Recipe Book.,
By Paul Houlston (Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Miss Vickie's Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipes (Paperback)
Its a great book for the beginner and, I suspect, an experienced cook. I'm getting close to retirement and I have a little boat with a propane stove. I thought that, "wouldn't it be great on those long transatlantic trips to have a pressure cooker so I could conserve fuel". I randomly chose Miss Vickie's book to start experimenting with the process. Two years later, I'm addicted to it. Previously, I had rarely cooked anything more than hot dogs and maybe an egg or two. I now dominate the kitchen and can't wait to come home and open her book to try another recipe. Its really easy to read. The chapter on what pressure cooking is all about is great. The recipes are clear, consistent and very simple. My wife, who is an excellent cook, has ceded to my new passion for cooking so Miss Vickie and I often cook supper together. Now, as soon as I learn to sail my boat out of the harbour, Miss Vickie, my wife and I will be off to explore new lands.

Excellent Cookbook,

Miss Vicky has put in a huge amount of work into this cookbook. It has a few very good chapters in the beginning on how to use a pressure cooker, what pressure cookers are out on the market, what to buy to make the pressure cooker even more useful , and a very interesting history on the pressure cooker. She has so many recipes in this book. I have many little checkmarks on all the recipes I want to try, and it will take me a long time to make them all. I love her style of writing. How varied her recipes are. And the food is very good. If you are going to own one pressure cookbook, this should be the one .

Excellent book for pressure cooker.,

Very good. Recipes are not 'exotic', so you can find the ingredients at the local supermarket, and the kids will eat it. I have several books for the pressure cooker, this is my most used.

Definitely not a "picture perfect" purchase,
By Punkii (British Columbia, CAN) - See all my reviews

While this book has some interesting information in it, you will be extremely disappointed if you like visual appeal since there is not a photo to be found once you open the cover. As someone who generally chooses a recipe based on whether or not it looks tasty, the lack of pictures means there is not much incentive for me to try any of them out. Unfortunately, I will likely end up relegating this purchase to the back of the cupboard.
