This Movie is the greatest movie ever. The movie has good music funny and great acting jessica alba is really hot and is great the hand is preetty good too a must buy when you see it once you'll want to see it again a dar n good movie

a stoner kids hand makes him start killing people.his 2 best friends return as zombies.eventualy he chops it off and it runs loose killing people.a whole bunch of nobodies are in it.it is low budget.doesnt anyone spend money on a horror film?it is really good though.there are a few ladies running about.a mexican chick next door,[ok people christineaguliera is yesterdays...

Underrated Black Comedy Horror Film., Juil 19 2004
Anton Tobias (Devon Sawa) is One of the Laziest Teenagers around, which Anton loves Television, Junk-Food, Couch Potato Burn-Out. Anton finds himself in deep trouble, when he can't control his murderous impulses of his recently possessed hand. Once His Hand murdered His Parents (Fred Willard & Connie Fox) and His Friends (Seth Green & Elden Henson), He tries to get control of his rampaging devil appendage and now, it's ruininf his life. Now with the help of his friends returning back to life, they will to help Anton's Possessed Hand before not ruining his chances with his attractive neighbor (Jessica Alba) before an Hunter (Vivica A. Fox). Which the Hunter knows a thing or two about the Hand Possession to Kill anyone Who is Possessed.Directed by Rodman Flender (Leprechaun 2) made a hilarious, sick, twisted black comedy that is a shoulda-been Cult Classic nipped in the bud by its unfortunate proximily to the Columbine Tragedy. Now the film is a forgetten genuine film. Amusing Performances in the film, especially the talented lead role of Sewa. DVD has an sharp Pan & Scan (1.33:1) transfer and an clear-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD has an great audio commentary track by the director and actors:Green & Henson. DVD has also the Original Ending with an Introduction by the Director with an Commentary Track by the Director, which you could watch the Original Ending without the Commentary and more decent extras. If you love Widescreen (Like I Do), try to get the Previous 1999 Transfer (Which also had the Widescreen/Pan & Scan transfers). Idle Hands is a tribute to another horror films like:Oliver Stone's The Hands, An American Werewolf in London, Re-Animator and Evil Dead 2:Dead by Dawn. If you are a Horror Fan, don't overlook this film. Good Music Score by Greame Revell (Bride of Chucky, The Crow, Freddy Vs. Jason). Grade:A-.

Let me be direct: 90% of the movie sucks. The acting and effects are decent. But the story, the direction, and well, pretty much everything else, are bad. A few minutes into the movie, I thought it was a horror movie. Even then I was disappointed because it's not nearly horrifying enough. Then a third of the movie gone by, the plot became more and more ridiculous, and only then did I realize that the filmmakers wanted to make it a black comedy. But just that the movie has the style of a black comedy doesn't mean that the filmmakers would feel obliged to offer you any laughs, witty dialouges or dark humor. The movie has none of those. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 star is some really really terrible movies deserve the lowest grade more than this one does. Not by a lot, though, I have to say.

this movie is the best one I've ever seen. it's fun to watch and that's really important. I've never laughed harder in my life!! the main caracter isn't the funniest, his 2 friends are. also the offspring is in it, I think that's so cool!! dexter holland had an actual part in it!! he dies, but that's ok hahah. you really should go rent it or buy it cos it's great!!

THE DEVIL'S WORKSHOP, Avril 20 2004
IDLE HANDS has more misses than hits, but one can't help but find the overall movie amusing. Devon Sawa does a very good job with his possessed hand, some have already mentioned it's likeness to Steve Martin in ALL OF ME. Bringing back his friends (Seth Green, Elden Henson) as zombies is a direct ripoff from both American Werewolf movies, and even though derivative as such, are buoyant and fun. Viveca Fox as the hand hunter is hilarious, as is Jack Noseworthy as the pseudo-studly Randy. There is lots of gore, pot smoking, even nutmeg/oregano smoking, but in this day and age, what teen movie wouldn't have it. The overuse of soundtrack songs is as always distracting, but again, when one targets a teen audience, this is what one gets. However, the musical score itself by Graeme Revell is very good. This is one of those movies you watch when you need a good laugh, and even though it's not as funny as you want it to be, it still delivers.

For a straightedge, hardworking high school student, this is an odd movie to be considered my favorite. But I absolutely love it. I bring it to people's houses and parties all the time b/c it's a great movie that a whole bunch of people can watch and automatically like. Bringing a scary movie to a party is always bad b/c you get the people that are scared to death when someone so much as says, "Boo," and you get the people that always fold their arms, roll their eyes, and say, "That was supposed to be scary? This movie's so dumb." Comedies aren't always a hit at parties either, b/c you get people who don't understand the jokes and people who think it cramps their style to laugh at something that really is funny. Idle Hands is gory, violent, and hilarious. It's creepy w/o trying to scare the daylights out of you and falling short. It's so incredibly "out there" and weird that you can't help but laugh. Basically it's one of those movies that you can't take seriously, or you won't enjoy it. If you're one of those people that analyzes the acting and plot and all that, don't watch this. This is a movie that you watch just for laughs.

this movie is totally underrated. it deserves a little more credit for having some decent acting on the part of devon sawa (not so much for his actual acting, but his representation of the posessed hand was pretty well done, almost as good as steve martin in all of me). this movie is light, funny and worth watching, or if you can find a cheap enough copy, buying.

On the surface, sight unseen Idle Hands, seemed like it would be nothing more than schlock. When I saw the preview, my initial impression was confirmed...or so I thought. After seeing the finished product, as a rental, this horror/comedy is more entertaining than I imagined.Anton Tobias (Devon Sawa) is a channel-surfing, junk-food munching, couch potato burnt-out slacker, who can't seem to control the homicidal tendencies of his recently possessed by the devil hand. With the help of his zombiefied pals, Mick (Seth Green) and Pnub (Elden Henson), Anton's got to stop the out of control appendage before it takes total hold of his life and ruins any chance he has with Molly (Jessica Alba), the girl of his dreams. As long as you can leave your brain at the door... Director Rodman Flender has put together a solid little movie, filled with a nice mix of hip humor, scary stuff and body parts. I was amazed at how that usual pretty boy Sawa was up to the physicality of the role. He does some very good stuntwork throughout the film. Seth Green, as usual, is the go to guy for sarcatic wit and wisdom The lovely Vivica A. Fox steps up in a fun supporting role, as someone who might hold the key to solving Anton's personal crisis. The DVD has a few nice extras, but still could have used an audio commentary, to put things over the top. There are a couple of nice deleted scenes, that wouldn't have added all that much to the film, but are worth a look. You also get to watch a "by the numbers" making of featurette with cast and crew. The best of the bonus material for me is the storyboard-to-film splitscreen comparison. This is well put together and interesting to watch. Production notes and the fairly standard theatrical trailer tops off the disc. You can also decide whether to watch the film in either the full-screen or widescreen formats. While Idle Hands isn't exactly a home run, it isn't a total strike out either. If you can go with it, there's plenty of fun to be had. Three and a half stars

Prejudice keeps us down, Janv. 21 2004
As someone who lost an arm in a grizzly bear accident (I like to hike with honey in my pockets), I find this movie and title highly insulting! It should be called "Idle Hand or Hands, if You Have Any." The babes are pretty darn hot though!
