I just got married on New Year's Eve, and my mother-in-law (who is totally cool) gave me a big stack of sex-instruction books as a wedding present. This was one of them among the pile, which also included "5 Minutes to Orgasm Every Time," "Satisfaction" by Kim Kattral, "The Bedside Kama Sutra" by Linda Sonntag, "9 Free Secrets of New Sensual Power" by Clint Arthur, and...

This book has a wonderful and broad base of knowledge within, doubtless based on ms. paget's own experience and expertise in the subject matter. It was a delight to read and opened my eyes to a few new ideas as well.

I have been in pursuit of sexual fulfillment for quite some time, and this book is one of the better offerings on the market treating the subject of female pleasure from a woman's point of view. Which is why I gave it to my boyfriend to read -- but unfortunately, he didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did. He has subsequently read (and put into very effective use) the book "Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking" by Tom Leonardi, and reports that it's man-to-man tone and language was more accessible and enjoyable for him. He and I also enjoyed and greatly benefitted from the dvd "New Sex Now" and would advise all those interested in maximizing their sexual potential to investigate this and the other two as well.

Good job, ms. paget. Please keep up the great work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Down-to-Earth, Helpful and Comprehensive, Aug 13 2000

I have a small library of sex books, but Lou Paget has written two of my favorites. As a sex lecturer, she has talked with many women and explains well what makes them tick. Her books have a very 'down to earth' tone and cover a wide range of subjects: how to help your lady to get in the mood, safety, condoms, toys, manual and oral stimulation and positions for sex. The book has a lively sprinkling of sex trivia and many very helpful drawings. Although I would prefer a shorter section on products and a longer sexion on positions, this book has helped me to give my woman a new level of pleasure. And I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great advice, Oct 26 2002

This review is from: How to Give Her Absolute Pleasure: Totally Explicit Techniques Every Woman Wants Her Man to Know (Hardcover)
The author says that women's bodies are like golf courses, and the skill is in how to play the course. He might be right about that, since I've always had a problem with my chip shot, and I know the wood I use for those long drives sometimes puts me in the rough instead of on the green or in the hole.

On the other hand, I've also had this theory that women's bodies are more like a finely crafted musical instrument, like a Stradivarius violin, which just gets better as it gets older. Unfortunately, because of my significant other's recent weight gain, she's more like a tuba now than a flute, but then she always said my rhythm was more like a German oompah band anyway--both in and out of bed.

Well, whether women's bodies are really like a golf course or a musical instrument, this book had lots of great advice on how to improve your skill in the world's oldest indoor sport.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Basic, Mar 3 2003

This review is from: How to Give Her Absolute Pleasure: Totally Explicit Techniques Every Woman Wants Her Man to Know (Hardcover)
I just got married on New Year's Eve, and my mother-in-law (who is totally cool) gave me a big stack of sex-instruction books as a wedding present. This was one of them among the pile, which also included "5 Minutes to Orgasm Every Time," "Satisfaction" by Kim Kattral, "The Bedside Kama Sutra" by Linda Sonntag, "9 Free Secrets of New Sensual Power" by Clint Arthur, and "Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking" by Tom Leonardi. I took the whole lot with me to Hawaii on our honeymoon, studied them thoroughly, and from my bride's reaction to the things I put into good use during our ten days in the tropics, I got an "A" on the final exam.

So here's what I learned, and a few bits of advice I have for anyone who is searching this category in earnest for some self-help in the area of mastering the skills of making love and making a woman scream with sexual ecstasy. #)1 There really is a lot of information available on how to be a MUCH better lover. One would think that sex is just sex, and that all these books are just a bunch of hype, but it's just not true. There's thousands of years of education and study in this field, and it can make a dramatic difference. To get a little personal, my wife and I were by no means virgins when we got married -- in fact, we'd been having what we both considered to be GREAT sex together for almost three years of dating and being engaged. But after I read these books and put the lessons into action, UNBELIEVABLE FIREWORKS went off for her and me both. So picking the right book out of this bunch can be a worthy investment of your time and efforts

2) There is a big difference between these books. Some are written by women, others by men, some are just about how to give HER pleasure, others are about the COUPLE getting pleasure. Choose what you are going to order very carefully. I would say that if you are a woman wanting to give pleasure to a woman you should pick one of the books by a female author, and if you are a man (or buying this book for a man) you should get one of the books by a man. Even though the text may be directed toward men, and the information may be what women want men to know, it's easier for a man to relate and understand the messages when he's hearing it from a man. So, for the women seeking advice on how to pleasure a female lover, go for Kim Cattral's, Lou Paget's or Linda Sonntag's books. But for men wanting to learn how to give women pleasure, get Tom Leonardi's or Clint Arthur's book. Those guys really know what they're talking about.

#3) No matter what Lou Paget says in her fine book "How to Give Her Absolute Pleasure", while I do think that a woman's pleasure is central to the issue of Great Sex, I don't think it can or should exist in a vacuum. And many women (luckily for me, my wife included) ENJOY giving pleasure to men. And there's much breakthru information on that available here as well. As long as you are getting one of these books, you should factor that into the equation as well, which is available only in Clint Arthur's book. So think about that.

#4) Lastly, sex can be such a powerful force. It creates bonds of intimacy and communication between lovers, and it can even have a powerful impact on most areas of a person's life, including one's health, wealth, and overall level of fulfillment. It's an awesome part of leading a rich life, and with the proper respect and amount of study, huge impacts can be achieved. Which is why I really advise all the men and women to look seriously at "9 Free Secrets of New Sensual Power" as THE choice above all the others in this category. As far as information is concerned, it has everything you'll find in all the other books, plus a whole lot more. But more importantly, it has a whole-life perspective on sex that none of the others delivers, and that will change your life much more than even the GREAT sex it will teach you how to enjoy.

I think that Paget’s “How to be a great lover” is better because it contains a lot more and detailed techniques. This one also contains such but the approach is a lot more simplistic and sometimes even vague. Is this content really something I would like my husband to know? Yes, there is a broad spectrum of things in it, which is good for him to know. We have been married for 9 years and we have already tried almost everything. However, there are still several things in her book which we found new and interesting to know. We would like to recommended Alan Ritz’ Scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex as well because it provides breakthrough information, which made a great difference for us in bed.

Good book. The only thing I've read that impressed me more was The System by Roy Valentine. I got it here at amazon. You have to read this book.

I bought this book based on the reviews I read here. Thank God someone finally wrote a book about how to do everything up until the act of sex! The book is well written, easy to read and reference, and has fairly helpful, if at times funny, sketches to guide you along. It has made me a much better man when it comes to the lost (and never talked about) art of foreplay. A must have for any man who hasn't had the oppertunity to hone their skills on previous girlfriends and don't want to constantly be that guy asking "how's this?"

Among our recent purchases this book enhances intimacy complementing the steps of the The Multi-Orgasmic Man and The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus. Lou Paget lays out simple to read and easy to follow steps that pull you and your partner towards a long lasting, very thrilling, and stimulating experience. Her "secrets" that are peppered through the book make sense and her research is very creditable. My wife and I are thrilled with what we are learning about each other and Lou Paget is right on the money.
