This mystery novel is well paced and plotted; although the story is complex it still flows nicely it is not burdened with subplots, all the characters have depth and are interesting. Without a doubt, I am eager to read the fourth adventure.

This is the first Giles Blunt book I have read and I will be reading more of his books now. I had expected a little more suspence and a bit harder time trying to figure out who the bad guy was but it was still very well written and had me wishing I had the time to just sit and read none stop. One thing that did surprise me was being drawn into the personal life of the lead character John Cardinal. At first I just wanted the mystery part and was annoyed with all the personal stuff but by the end of the book I was hooked and now need to know what happens in the next book.

I really liked that book. The story of a detective and his partner, a red hair victim he's trying to protect and she wants to find her drug addict brother. All this is happening in Algonquin Bay and Toronto. It's a nice change from a US investigation. Not alot different but still, I could relate more. :)
