Excellent, Jun 29 2007
This review is from: The Delicate Storm: A John Cardinal Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
This mystery is beautifully written, smooth and compact just enough details, the characters are credible and the plot appears to be derived from moments of Quebec's history and fiction.

Great until the let down ending, May 6 2009
This review is from: The Delicate Storm: A John Cardinal Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
I was looking forward to reading this book after reading Forty Words of Sorrow. I was drawn into reading about the Canadian setting and of course by the parallel historical aspect based on the FLQ crisis period in Quebec.
Most of the book was enjoyable and met my expectations. I read it quickly and eagerly waiting to find out who the killer was.
The let down came at the end when the killer was Abruptly revealed. The ending was most unsatisfactory and left myself and my son who read it, feeling 'ripped off' It was as if the author had a publishing deadline and/or he ran out of steam so decided just to write the ending without the details of letting us know how the story actually got there. Disappointing Giles Blunt in this one key aspect of the novel.
