5.0 out of 5 stars Meets its objectives exceedingly well.
This is an excellent prepatory source for the Cisco CCNA exam, and easily covers the vast majority of topics that are addressed on the exam. Like the other Sybex offering, as you might the book falls very short of being a useful guide to configuring Cisco routers in the real world, so don't study this book, pass the test, and assume you're a Cisco master! However, For...

This book focuses around the 4xx series of test that have been discontinued by CISCO. I'd recomend other great titles that are more current for the 5xx series of test.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but..., Aug 11 2003

This review is from: CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Exam Notes (Paperback)
If you have purchased Sybex Study Guide, don't spend too much money for CCNA exam. This book is good but you don't need this one beside Sbex Study Guide. Use Test King and also Boson Router Simulator with Lammle's Study Guide, this set will be enough to pass the exam.
Good luck all of you...

However, For those already reasonably knowledgeable abotu the fundamentals of networking, this book alone should be plenty sufficient to pass the exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Incredibly Pogniant Book, Dec 10 2001
By "gizmosys" (Fort Knox, KY) - See all my reviews
The Sybex CCNA 2.0 Study Guide written by Lammle is a gem to be sure, but it contains entirely too much content in relation to what is on the test. I highly recommend reading the whole study guide, BUT, whatever you choose to do, buy the Sybex CCNA Exam Notes and drink in every word. This 300 pp. paperback book contains the nuggets of knowledge that the Cisco exam will question you upon. So, to summarize, buy the Sybex CCNA 2.0 Study Guide and compliment it with the Sybex CCNA Exam Notes! Don't forget to get some good router time in there too. I spent maybe 30 hours on a router. Doing these things, I scored a 913/1000 without breaking a sweat!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great prep book for CCNA exam!, Nov 8 2001
By Noel K. Stadlman (Tacoma, WA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I just passed CCNA on 11/5. This book provides a great guide to study from. If you know your basic OSI stuff and basic router configuration already this book will help you review material that you must know to pass the exam. I would also recommend the practice exam CD from Test Out!. The Test Out! exams are much more difficult than the real exam, so you can test with confidence if you have scored at least 85% on Test Out!. Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Review, May 28 2001
By Locnar (Denver, CO United States) - See all my reviews
Passed with 978/1000. BUT this is not enough to pass alone. I recommend Todd's study guide in addition. A router sim is a necessity also. Good luck all!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Book was excellent final prep. right before test., Feb 19 2001
By A Customer
With the large number of preparation materials out there, it's nice to have a "final" prep resource. This book does that job well, though it doesn't quite nail the mark on the current 2.0 testing. Use this guide as a final review to make sure you've got your bases covered well. Do not expect this guide to help you get over 900 on the 2.0 test without some experience or other study. Like I said, it's excellent review material but certainly not exhaustive enough to fully cover the CCNA 2.0 test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best review for the $$, Feb 12 2001
By shawn-ccna (Centerville, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This book has the best information for the CCNA exam out there. I found that the information review and some of the techniques (ip addressing within subnets) are outstanding.

The one assumption that this book makes, is that you have either done alot of router-sim or have hands-on experience. But it is an excellent review nonetheless.

Highly recommended to study right before the exam, work the problems and go through the review points, and you'll feel comfortable!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Cisco experience and tested 930!, Dec 17 2000
By A Customer
In preparation for taking the CCNA exam, I procurred 4 different CCNA texts and sequestered myself away to study (using vacation time). I began to study each major topic by reading the relevent section from each text, but soon found myself reading exclusively from Lammle's remarkably condensed and easy to read Exam Notes.

Even without any significant hands-on experience, I easily passed the exam.
