I found this book to be an excellent resource to prepare for the exam, which I sat and passed in August 2001. The book did not cover some areas CompTIA say may be tested, but only 2 questions in my exam were not covered by the book. The book is out of date in a few instances (such as what level of encryption may be exported, discusses NT3&4 but not 2000) and there are a couple of minor inconsistancies. The test questions on the CD seem largely to be a repetition of the ones in the book. In short, however, if you know and understand the material presented in the book, you will pass the exam.

If you absolutely must pass the Network+ exam, then this is the book for you. This book teaches to the test. the included cd has the entire text to do searches and hundreds of practice questions in test formats that appear similar to the real exam.
also many practice questions are nearly identical to the actual exam. I read through the book the spent over 50 hours on the pactice tests. i scored 826/900 on the actual exam. that correspnts to roughly 91%. the bad news is that i will need a better book to keep in my office as a reference. if its not on the test, its not in this book.

First, the reviewer below states that Linux is not a flavor of UNIX. Not true... although it was developed from the ground up, that doesn't mean that it's not a UNIX derivative. Not important for the exam, but Linux guys are so wound up on this issue :)
Second, the good news is the book delivers. The bad news is the book delivers. I say this because anyone with a good memory can read this book and pass the exam. It's only so much information and very logical. The authors do a great job... I just wish the exam was a little more difficult!

I don't have a strong networking experience. After I read the reviews at Amazon.com I thought this was the right book for me. It explains everything clearly. Very easy to read. Even the most technological terms are explained clear enough for beginners. I took my certification exam after reading this book twice and I passed. However, you should not rely on the practice questions that come with the book. Try to learn as you read.
Thank you Mr. Groth. Irecommend this book everybody who is planning to take the test.

While this book may even be overly thorough, it has everything you will ever need to know to successfully pass the exam. You will not find another book that has as much information in it concerning basic networking as this one. If you are the type of person who likes to prepare thoroughly for certification exams because you don't like surprise questions, then this is your book for the Network+ exam. You have no need to look any further. I just read it all the way through once and easily passed the exam.

This is the book you need. If you are A+ certified already and working on a workstation in a network environment for some time, you will not have a tough time passing the Network + exam after reading this book thoroughly. Answer all the multiple choice questions and learn why the answer is the answer and others aren't. Go through it until you score 100% every time on the chapter test and you'll pass with flying colors. The more you study and understand the better you'll do.

I just passed the Network+ exam with an 89 after studying this book. The book was right on target, and is the only book necessary to pass the exam. If you know the answers to the exams on the accomanying CD-ROM, and at the end of each chapter, you will pass the exam. I highly recommend this book.
I also found that I was able to pass the Microsoft Network Essentials practice exams after reading and studying this book.

This book is easy to understand and follow. It's very in-depth in most areas. The one area I would have liked to see more work on was Netbeui, as I never felt it explained it well. Besides that, the book is excellent.
The practice exams are hard, but will help you to figure out what you need to go over more. I didn't find many errors, and none that would have really messed me up. Great book, buy it!

This book is cover all materials you need to know. There are some misktake and error, but very good explaination. If you want to know more detail about the networking stuffs, you got to buy more books to master them. However, This book is enough for the Network+ certification. Good Luck !!

Just passed the Network+ exam with 863. I read this book cover to cover and did all questions on the CD. The TCP/IP Utilities chapter is very good and you will see that on the exam.
Suggest reading this book and have lots of practical hands-on experience before attempting the exam.
