5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Your Bible Study Library
This is the best of the best when it comes to Bible Tools. This concordance is probably one of the better concordances out there. The Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries are excellent for getting a basic gist of the languages, however, there is a case that the definitions are based on a classical, not necessarily koine Greek.

The Hebrew is influenced by the Massoretic text...

If you can only afford one reference work, buy this. Strong's numerical systems works as a printed "many-to-one" database of words found in the King James Version of the Bible.

Unfortunately I find it difficult at times due to my personal predisposition to actually want to stay awake during Bible study which the KJV of the Bible does not allow me to do. I...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great - For King James, Mar 25 2005
By
Justin M (Toronto, Onatario) - See all my reviews
This is book is awesome! The first 1200 pages is a very in depth concordance. It follows with a small concordance of 49 VERY COMMON words (and, of, ye...). The book also contains a hebrew (or aramaic) and greek dictionary (Strong's Numbers System). Although the definitions aren't as exaustive as the concordance, they are very useful for people who just want to get a sense of the original meanings of the hebrew or greek without the interpreter(s)' "interpretation" (250 pages).

note: Keep in mind that the book is very big, and the printing is very small

This Concordance has other useful material such as topical index (150 pages), harmony of the gospels, Jesus' fullfilling of prophocies.
The only thing I found I did not like was that the concordance is for KJV, and cannot be (precisely) used for the NASB, or NIV.

Overall, for 20$, a great buy and a must have.

This is the best of the best when it comes to Bible Tools. This concordance is probably one of the better concordances out there. The Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries are excellent for getting a basic gist of the languages, however, there is a case that the definitions are based on a classical, not necessarily koine Greek.

The Hebrew is influenced by the Massoretic text. This book has everyword of the Bible listed and the Greek and Hebrew words they come from.

The numbering systems work well to help you be able to find the Greek and Hebrew quickly.

I think this is great as a home study tool. It is not good for a travel type concordance. If you are a serious Bible student wanting to study on the road, then Cruden's concordance in paperback is a good tool to supplement a concordance at the back of your Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Strong's, for goodness' sake.., April 20 2003

That it's the exaustive Strong's, I give it 5 stars. But there's nothing "New" about this edition. It's the same old exaustive Strong's that's been out since Methusala. Same pages. Same ugly font. Same smelly acidic paper. Same wonderful, indespensible Strong's Concordance!

By upgrading my Strong's to this new one was one of the best investments that I have made in my Bible study materials. Please try it and I bet that you agree with me. It is also easier to find great material than the previous editions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book as long as you don't take it too far, Feb 25 2003

Strong's is a good reference to words in the Bible. Every word in the Bible is indexed. Also includes Hebrew and Greek dictionaries that have some very good information on derivations. If you are a student of Greek or Hebrew as I am, I can tell you that having these derivations is a great aid in memorizing vocabulary, which is the hardest part of language learning for me. Anything that can make it easier is a great blessing.

It is also very useful for the general student of the Bible. It provides definitions and cross-references of all word usages. The only thing that's a little hard to use is the "little words" listing - words like "the", "in", etc. They are listed separately, and that was done because of space reasons. My only gripe is in some of the words they included in this list, for example, "in". As a preposition I would consider that to be a pretty important word, and to relegate it to the hard-to-use brief index rather than the easy-to-use main concordance makes it much more difficult on us.

The other thing is that serious students of Greek and Hebrew will want to have a more scholarly reference. Strong's is not considered really scholarly by many, and I must admit that they do things that I wish they wouldn't (for example, they don't differentiate between different forms of words, they jump lump them all together). Serious students of the original languages will want something more. But, note that I say "in addition to": I still like Strong's since it's classic, and is helpful to me in general Bible study as well as detailed language study.

For the price (or even price-per-pound: this sucker weighs a ton!), it is an outstanding value.

Strong's Concordance is an absolute gold mine. In searching for the riches that God's word has to offer, there is no greater dictionary or lexicon better than Strong's. This concordance and dictionary helps the diligent student to separate identical words in the same context that may have different Hebrew and Greek meanings. In cross referencing, it aids the student in defining identical words that may have a different meaning based on the particular passage of scripture. There could be one word that we are familiar with in English that may have five different Hebrew or Greek translations. Strong's does an excellent job pointing the reader to the correct Hebrew/Greek interpretation whereby he or she can then search the English definition to add clarity. Preachers and teachers are encouraged to own and use this powerful tool for studying the word of God. I highly recommend this book for anyone who would desire to know what God determined that we should know in the original language. It will change your life completely. Strong's Concordance is a must have for your Biblical library. Kudos!

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent Strong's ..., Oct 5 2002
By
Noah Paul (Connecticut, USA.) - See all my reviews
... but the pages are very thin (difficult to turn) and I've seen editions with more material. A Strong's, however, is a Strong's, and an invaluable addition to any Bible student's library. Highly recommended as a cheaper Strong's. Invest in a hardcover if you're serious about it or wish to invest in it. The book is 'perfect bound', too, and will fall apart after use/abuse. But the content is great :). My only complaint is the packaging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy, Sep 19 2002

I was very impressed by this book. The Hebrew and Greek dictionaries are quite complete and in depth. Also all of the Hebrew laws, Weights and measures are listed, along with the teachings of Christ listed by subject. The main concordance is beyond exhaustive and I easily found any suject I was looking for.
I highly recommend this book for students of the bible, pastors or just simply anyone that would like to study God's word on a more in depth basis. It's beyond exhaustive by far.
