An Excellent Book,
By Chad Spivak (North Miami Beach, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my daughter who is a history buff, and man, was I ever glad that I did. Simply put, this just is an excellent book. The illustrations by Ken Marschall are absolutely amazing. Hands down, they are the best that I have ever seen in regards to the Titanic. His use of color is so extraordinary that sometimes I seriously had to take a second look to make sure that it was not a photograph. The writing is also quite good. Don Lynch gives heroic voices to the crew of the ship, something that was missed in the smash hit movie. His language is very candid, and it allows you to feel as if you are actually there experiencing the voyage. This book is, by far, the most descriptive and informative recap of the story of the Titanic. It is one magnificent journey and a terrific book.

Titanic Companion,
This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
I bought this book when the movie "Titanic" came out and am I ever glad I did. A wonderful history of the Titanic, the authors have assembled fascinating pictures and recreations of the luxury liner's china, hallways and accommodations, etc. Reading this book is almost like taking a trip on the Titanic herself.

The only Titanic book you'll ever need!!,

This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
I'm not someone who gives 5 stars or a perfect 10 very much but this book is one that deserves a perfect 10 completely. It is more than you'll ever need to know about the Titacic from before it was ever made to the very end and what was changed by the sinking. You should buy this book just by the pure number of people that have written good things about this book. A wonderfull book that I'm glad I bought!!

EYE CANDY for the Titanic enthusiast.,

This is the best pictorial chronicle of the Titanic that I know of, the pictures were the best thing out there to describe how the ship looked in in it's pre-sinking days (at least until the movie!).

This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
This book is right beside me this very moment. My favourite pictures are on pages 135, 136, & 204. 1st one is where the water bursting through the glass dome & throughout the room. 2nd one is where the Titanic is at the angle where it will break in half. The last is the remains of the shattered stern on the ocean floor. Now that picture sort of saddens me because having plans to start a new life and having it shattered in the worst disaster ever known to mankind. From the first word to the last, I kid you not, but I prefer this book to you. TITANIC BUFF HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The research ship on pages 208 & 209 was used in the movie "TITANIC"!) Nearer My God To Thee!

This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
This book has some sweet pictures, including the one where Murdoch is yelling to Hichens "HARD 'A STARBOARD!" because I can feel the intensity Murdoch had when he saw the iceberg. This book is the bomb, and I feel everyone should have it.

This book has some sweet pictures, including the one where the water is pouring in the first-class staircase. VERY detailed, this book will bring you excitement from J. Bruce Ismay's conversation to the reaction people still have from the sinking.

This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
When you both, Ken Marschall paintings and Don Lynch's words together your going to get better then great stuff. I absolutely love Ken's printings of Titanic. There's no one better, he brings the Great Ship to life. And Don knows everything about Titanic. If your already a Titanic fan or just getting to be one this is the book for you.

The best single book for Titanic history and pictures!,

This review is from: Titanic: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
If you buy only one book about the Titanic, this should be the one! I bought it over a year ago primarily as a visual supplement to "A Night to Remember," because of the great Ken Marschall paintings and the many pages of photos of Titanic and related artifacts. However, I became enthralled by the superb book-length text by historian Don Lynch, which is well worth the price all by itself. Walter Lord's book focused primarily on the night of the sinking, but this book tells the whole story of Titanic, from her conception and construction to the post-disaster inquiries and recovery efforts and the discovery of the wreckage, in addition to an engrossing minute-by-minute and lifeboat-by-lifeboat account of the sinking itself. By James Cameron's own account, this is the book that inspired The Movie. Buy the hardcover if you can, since you'll want to look at it over and over again.
