Wish There Were More Like This!,
By Linda Hewitt (Hagerstown, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
I read all of the reviews before I bought this book. I really didn't believe the book would be as good as everyone said, but thought I would check it out for myself. This book was even better than everyone claimed! I started and finished in the same day and not one bit of housework got done that day. It kept my attention from the first page to the last. Even when you thought you knew what was going to happen.. you didn't. She just kept surprising you.

What a wonderful story.....,
By
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
Deb Stover, takes an engaging idea and weaves a wonderful story. The plot and Zach & Hilary's story are worth reading. My biggest disappointment is in the writing itself. There was vey little description, and the plot flies along. One minute Zach arrives in his deserted ghosttown, and the next day they are madly in love, declaring their undying devotion to each other. (Besides the fact that Zach thinks Hilary is certifiably crazy.) Ms. Stover also tackles the disease of alcohalism. This is a very tough topic, especially in a romance novel, and she does a commendable job. I don't know how accurate some of the ideas she portrays are (like getting someone to stop, and so vehemently, just by talking to them for a few minutes, it usually takes a bigger impetus than that), but the idea that she tries, is great. Showing Zach's fight against wanting to take a drink when things get bad, is heartwrenching. Definitely worth reading for a "pick me up".

Chocolate Decadence,
By A Customer
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
I will never think of chocolate ice cream the same way again. This book sizzles with sensuality, but at the same time it delivers a poignant social message without the preaching. Alcoholism is a disease, and this author handles the issue with finesse. Great book!

Complex, Convoluted, and Absolutely Wonderful!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
It takes tremendous talent to pull off a story like this one. Deb does it with superior skill. Her characters are people I'd love to know, or hate to meet. The complexities of this book will intrigue and astound you. She makes time travel work in a way that couldn't have been easy to write. Her knowledge of the disease of alcoholism is dead-on. "Almost An Angel" won't disappoint you in any way. Great piece of work, Deb!

Queen of the Ghost Romance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
Nobody writes paranormal better than Deb Stover. She *makes* you believe -- even if her characters may have a little trouble! ALMOST AN ANGEL will float into your heart. (I think the comment from Oneida says more about her than about this book.)

"Almost An Angel" by Deb Stover was a wonderful and sensual book. From the moment Zach and Hillary met, I was on the edge of my seat and could not stop reading until I knew how the story ended. I will definitely read many more books by Deb Stover

A delightful humorous book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
Deb Stovers ALMOST AN ANGEL is a delightful and humorous tale which includes a beautiful ghost, two characters who learn through love. It defintely has alot of humor. I believe all of Debs books are worth buying and keeping! The reviewer from Oneida, Wisconsin may not like it but many of us do and she needs to be a little more kind and tactful.

Unique, Complex, and Deeply Romantic!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
Deb Stover never takes the easy way out with her books. She writes complex, unique stories that deal with sensitive, timely issues, yet she still manages to blend it all with humor and generous doses of steamy sensuality. Best of all, she peoples her books with strong, multi-layered characters--heroes and heroines not afraid to take risks and face their fears on the road to happily-ever-after. I loved ALMOST AN ANGEL, and I can't wait to read Deb's latest book, STOLEN WISHES (10/99).

Inspiring Read,

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and found the lessons learned by both the hero and heroine believable and compelling. It taught me something about alcoholism, and about love. I'll be watching for more books by this author.

Heartwarming Story,

This review is from: Almost An Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
This story is beautiful. The characters are so well drawn, I found myself lying awake at night to think about them. I want Nellie Brown's story now. I hope the author will give it to us. Almost an Angel is sexy and funny and wonderful.
