5.0 out of 5 stars stunning sequel!, Jun 21 2002

This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
Trisha Baker once again had me entralled with her story of reluctant vampire, Meghann O'neill and her battles with her master simon Baldevar.Baker is a skillful writer because she could had taken the easy route and just have this novel like it's predecessor with endless scenes of Simon chasing and terrorizing Meghann but no Baker does something I thought could never happen she makes Simon likable! Yes you read it right those of you who read the first book like myself was shocked at the depths of evil and depravity that Simon was capable of and his obessive and terrifying love of Meghann. Baker allows us to see Simon's history on how he became a vampire and why he did the horrible things that he done. When Meghann becomes pregnant
Simon becomes more human in his love and concern toward Meghann and their unborn child. He even saves her life against his fanatical enemies! This novel gives us a Simon's history which takes place in Elizabethan England and it shows how he and Alcuin became deadly enemies.Baker's novel has gruesome scenes of battle between vampires and bloodletting. Simon is still a monster but in Baker's capable hands he becomes sympathetic...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sequel, May 12 2003
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
"Crimson Night" is a great sequel to the incredible book "Crimson Kiss" by Trisha Baker. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one, if not a little bit more. This book gives you more background information about Simon Baldevar, the ruthless yet charming lead character. I was also very touched by the way he treated the love of his life, Meghann O'Neill, with so much love and adoration while she was pregnant.

Although Simon is a killer, fiend, and tormentor, you can't help but feel sorry for him as he reveals his past to Meghann. The stories about how his father and incompetent brother wanted to control and force him into a life which would have driven him mad, made my heart go out to him.

Not only did he show a great deal of love for Meghann, but he also revealed a softer side when entrusted in the help of Lee Windslow, a mortal doctor, and Charles Tarleton, Meghann's close vampire friend. Given the fact that Simon and Charles were enemies, it was nice to see that he was accepting of Charles and Lee because they made Meghann happy. I also loved the way he treated his daughter with so much love and tenderness that it was hard to believe that this was the same man.

I don't want to give too much away, but if you want to read an incredible book, read "Crimson Kiss" first, then read "Crimson Night"! You will definitely not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best of the three, Feb 14 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
Having now read all three in the trilogy, my personal opinion is this is the best of them. This book had a stronger romantic element, while still carrying the darker themes of the other two books. Simon Baldevar's character truly comes to life in this installment, and Meghann's pain and confusion translates to the reader. The story was sweet, sensual, and terrifying all at once.

By A Customer
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book because it kept me on the edge of my seat just like Crimson Kiss did. Except this one was more intreging because it actually tells you a little bit of Simon's history which I really wanted to know about after readind Crimson Kiss. I can't wait until Crimson Shadows comes out so I can see what Simon does to Megghan and her twins this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better, Nov 9 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
trisha baker has done it again. she has created yet another amazing book! it had been a year since i first read crimson kiss. since then i had long awaited for the sequel. after finally getting the book, i couldn't put it down. even though simon was a mean and domineering fiend i still soften towards him. he had changed his ways and made meghann fall in love with him once again. crimson night made me realized all the agony simon went through when he was still a mortal. and that he was cruel for many reasons. i cried even more in this book. especially at the end when simon is taking in some of her pain into him so she wouldn't have to suffer. and when he tells her he has to leave. i was so furious at simon for wanting to leave meghann. but when i found out why, i was ever so touched. trisha baker is an amazing writer nad for those who love to read i truly recommend you to read her two books. and i hope that her final book to the crimson trilogy will be a huge thriller as the first two were.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next one, Sep 3 2002
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
I must say this is by far the best sequal to a book that I've ever read. It had me up at the late hours of the night because I could not put it down. Simon turns out not so bad but I can't wait to see what turn he takes in the end. I hope he finally appreciats what he has with Meghann and that she is the only person alive that will truly love him as he is. And I can't wait to see what Jimmy has up his sleave to try and get Meghann back. But as much as I know other people would like to see Jimmy get her back I hope that she stays with Simon because he needs someone to love him after all he went through before he was transformed. Also, I can't wait to see what is in store for the twins. I also think it's really convenient how Trisha makes one twin mortal and one immortal. But I guess that's another twist to make the outline between Meghann and Simon thicken. As for Lee and Charles I hope they can finally be together. Well I hope the third and final book for this trilogy is as good as the others. And I hope that anythingelse Trisha writes is good too because I would love to read more from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who Would have Thought?, Aug 4 2002
By
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
I picked up both of Ms. Bakers novels, Crimson Kiss and Crimson Night at the same time. Crimson Night is one book that is just a thrilling ride of chills and thrills. It's very rare that an author takes you from both ends of the spectrum from hate to love and actually makes you believe it, that in the first book Crimson Kiss Simon is a vicious depraved fiend and in this book you actually want him to get the girl. I must admit I thought Simon Baldevar was just a real Mr. Nasty and a vile beast of a man and for MS. Baker in her second book Crimson Night, make me like him and actually feel sorry, and see his tender loving side is indeed is a writer's gift to their readers. The hero and the heroine are definitely at odds and what's makes this book unique is that though it a horror book it's got it all, suspense, thrills, horror, vampires, sexy men, romance, and sex. All thrown in a supernatural format that readers will not want to put this book down. I am not a big fan of horror and this book is one you must not miss. I encourage you to read her first book Crimson Kiss, for I my self had to re-read it when I finished Crimson Night just so I could clarify a few things. Its spine chilling and it's a one seater, so turn off the phone, bring of the munchies for you will not want to be disturbed while reading this book. I look forward to her next installment of Megan and Simon, but my only draw back is that in the back of both books its gives a web address for Ms. Baker, which apparently it does not work. So Ms. Baker get a web site for your fans, hmm maybe you could post a teaser and post the first three chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, April 30 2002
By
This review is from: Crimson Night (Paperback)
Meghann O'Neill had been transformed by Lord Simon Baldevar to be his consort. In Crimson Kiss, the readers saw Meghann's story. Readers learned first hand all the horrors Meghann endured as she fought to escape him. In this book, we continue the story.

Lord Baldevar vowed to get Meghann back! Meghann would be the one to help him achieve the philosophers' stone. Meghann was pregnant with his child. Without his help, she would die. When it became obvious that she would allow herself and her unborn child to die instead of asking for his dark help, Simon intervened. To save the lives of her friends, she would spend time with him and allow him to aide her during the pregnancy.

While with Simon, Meghann slowly learned all about Simon's history. Fight as she may, she began to understand what made him become as he was. The more she learned, the more she slipped back under his spell!

***** Last book was Meghann's story. This book tells Lord Baldevar's side! As evil as Simon is, even I found myself soften toward him. Trisha Baker gives her characters life, figuratively speaking, and an uncanny depth that I longed to understand as I read. Highly recommended! *****
