5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
This is the type of book that just forces you to keep turning th pages. It so real that you feel like you are there. This book is unreal it's so good. This is coming from a person that doesn't enjoy alot of books. And I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. This is very much a jail book because it describes the life in jail. 3.0 out of 5 stars barely a prison book
This book has more to deal with sexuality then it does prison life. Was expecting a full glance of prison life but instead was shown one segment

This is coming from a person that doesn't enjoy alot of books. And I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. This is very much a jail book because it describes the life in jail. And unfortunately rape is a very real thing in jail. It also contains alot of jail house terminology and the people in it. So I highly recommend this book.

This review is from: Fish: A Memoir Of a Boy in a Man's Prison (Paperback)
Definitely a page turner from the very beginning. It was a gripping read, I felt as though I was part of Parsell's story witnessing all of what he goes through in the unscrupulous world that is prison. I could feel his pain and helplessness. Although I've never been in jail, I could tremendously relate to his persona in both its weaknesses and strenghts.

It goes without saying that Parsell's a wonderful writer. The prose and the way of depicting what happens to him makes his journey in jail as real as it gets.

Parts of the book were just too much to contain with for the harsh and crude account of the writer's terrible mishaps. Howerver, it does close with a bright ending that had me literally in tears.

Parsell's story should forever be considered a prime literary work in the advocacy against prison rape, such an issue needn't be overlooked specially with the increasing rate of HIV infections among inmates as of late.
