5.0 out of 5 stars The Story of the very beginning
Wow, This book goes WAY back to give us the tale of the very first Knight of Solamnia. Wonderfully written, but you should definitly check out the Dragonlance Chronicles first.

This book takes place over an entire lifetime of the title character. 10 to 20 years will sometimes pass between chapters.

Very entertaining book with great action and above average character...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but what's the hurry?
This book is more about Vinas Solamnus than the Knightshood and it's founding. I found that the story might have been better if the writer had written it much longer, maybe even another book. We skip constantly by 6-15 year leaps in the early parts of the book, which made the character two-dimensional. A good book but buy at your own risk. Huma was much better!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Dragonlance book I have read yet!, Sep 16 2002
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
... Regarding this atrocity, avoid this! The story starts out good, for like ten pages! ... Vinas is worthless in this book. He slaughters innocents and I am supposed to like the leader of the knighthood? Also, some characters are introduced and have some big scenes, but are never talked about again. This is by far the worst book I have read yet of dragonlance. The legend of Huma wasn't this bad!

Very entertaining book with great action and above average character development. I recommend to anyone looking for a good fantasy book that deals very little with magic or magical creatures (although there is magic and magical characters in the book, just not many).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Job with Vinas, Jun 24 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a good Dragonlance book and one of the things I loved about it was that you don't need to be a major DL fanatic to like this book, the story was still there (perhaps it wasn't as meaningful) even if you haven't read the mainstream DL novels yet. The only thing I didn't like in this novel was the swift ending, it seemed like King started to write just to finish the story and stopped writing to tell the story. The very end was way too short and the way that Ergoth was taken care of seemed a bit cheap. But other than those few down points, this novel is totally worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, May 26 2000

This was a good and intresting book. I read it in a week, considering I had school and work, but one of the best. I rank it with some of the best, including the first three. I will admit it got a little boring at some points, but for only like a page or two. It was good from the start where he and his friend try to get into the Army. It was kind of in a hurry towards the end and I am sure the arthuor could of wrote a couple more hundred pages just to finish it and give good depth. The sad part is that I thought it would tell of the first years of the knighthood, but told you more of how the knighthood became. I recommend it to all DL lovers and anyone intrested in the Order of the KoS. It was one of those books that after your read it, it makes you feel glad that you read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Dragonlance I've ever read!, Jan 18 2000

This book was awesome! Right from the start it reels you in with Vinas trying to get into the army of Ergoth. Throughout the entire book battles and an empresses evil plans keep you reading unless you are called of for some reason. I read it in one night and I enjoyed so much i had to write this review. Compared to some of the other reviewers i liked the ending. This author should write more withen the Dragonlance series for this one was excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Work, Dec 26 1999
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
This was an excellent book - One of the best i've read to date from the DragonLance series, and i've been an avid reader for about 8 years. The story was very well told, very interesting, and the first few chapters really drew my interest. So much, in fact, that I read the entire book in one sitting. The book relates the story of Vinas Solamnus, who, while a relatively important figure in the DragonLance series, was barely touched upon until now. I'd recommend this tale to any experienced DragonLance reader.

3.0 out of 5 stars Vinas Solamnus, Dec 4 1999
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
It's me again. Okay, well, this was a pretty good book, but I've still read better. It got boring after a while, but then it got better. It had a kind of dissapointing ending, but it was still pretty good. It was the second book that I read in the Dragonlance series, and I'm working on my third now. I'd give it three stars because even though it was good, there are still some better ones out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why the hurry??, April 8 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've read in the DL serie. But why did it have to end so lousy? It seemed to me as if the writer had to get the book done so TSR could make another bundle of money on it. If only he had used about 150 more pages he could actually have told the tale of the knighthood instead of just letting a bit of lightning hit a stone and calling that the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Story of the Greatest Legend in Krynn's history, Mar 28 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vinas Solamnus: Lost Legends, Volume I (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a great story of Vinas Solamnus, and his early, evil years, and his later, thoughtful, wise and reflective years. If you like action and suspense, this is the Dragonlance book for you. I was happy to realize that it was everything I expected it to be. It kept me on the edge of the seat for days. I am a very experienced reader, and this book rates in my top 3. This book is especially exciting if you are interested in the history of Krynn. You would have to know a lot about the history of Krynn to understand this book to the maximum. As a warning, this book is not about the Knights of Solamnia, if for some reason that is your sole purpose for buying this book. I recommend this book strongly to those who are experienced Dragonlance readers, and wish for another great book from the World of Krynn. If you are new to the World of Dragonlance, I suggest that you learn a little bit about the timeline and history of Krynn before you attempt to read this book.
