5.0 out of 5 stars 'Fair' Enough
William Baldwin, why? Cindy Crawford, yes! A tough cop has to protect a lawyer after she discovered a ship full of computer hackers. Got it? Good. Funny KGB dudes think they are imbosols after following a tapped cell phone into a pig farmer's truck. They grab the fat driver, throw him to the dirt and force him to open his truck where the cop and lawyer may be stashed. The...

3.0 out of 5 stars Why be so negative?
Why are all those reviews so bad?

Hell yeah, Cindy Crawford can't act, Baldwin looks like straight out of a baby oil commercial and Slma Hayek's appereance is something to be ashamed of. But let's face the facts: Who cares? The action is spectacular and you can defenitly enjoy the visual style of the director and since the producer was Joel "the Matrix"...

4.0 out of 5 stars fun with high intensity, Aug 30 2007

i don't see the big problem with this movie.yes,it's generic and not that original, but so what.it's very action packed and exciting and very fast paced.there's lots of intensity in this one it's pretty much full boar(not sure if that's the correct spelling) from the get go.it's basically about a cop must protect a target of the bad guys and keep her from getting killed.but it's more than that.the bad guys are very smart and very deadly.something else i like is the good one liners, which were quite funny.William Baldwin is the cop,Cindy Crawford is the woman he must protect.both do a good job here,in my mind.Cindy handled herself pretty well considering this was her first feature film.anyway, the movie is a blast.Fair Game is easily a 4/5 for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars baldwins' bakin' brownies, Jan 20 2004
This review is from: Fair Game (Full Screen) (DVD)
I don't own the DVD and in fact I didn't even rent the flick...technically -- it was mistakenly placed within the case of another movie. Nonetheless, I watched it...or rather experienced the movie as it required much more than passive viewing. In fact, I had to utilize every ounce of will, stress each fiber of muscle, and fight every suicidal urge to make it through this thing.

Plot = Max Kirkpatrick (Baldwin boy #4) is the cop/hero who must protect the lovely Kate McQuean (Crawford playing a civil law attorney) from a KGB team dedicated to eradicate the beauty. What the movie lacks in acting, it makes up for in EXPLOSIONS and CHASES shot from multiple angles played again and again....and again.

Apparently Crawford's role was too demanding for the likes of Julianne Moore and Geena Davis, who both turned it down. On the plus side we do get to see Salma Hayek in one of her earlier theatrical performances (Frida this role is not) and Christopher McDonald (bad guy Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore) as the angry Lt.

This movie is so awful that you almost feel compelled to watch it, to earn your red badge of courage, and to join the ranks of the many who have suffered before you.

This is one of the worst movies of all time. The plot is so cheesy and the acting and action is so stupid. The romance is not good because there is no chemestry.

1.0 out of 5 stars YES, FOR GOD'S SAKE...IT IS THAT BAD!!!, Dec 16 2003

I like Cindy Crawford. I really do. I respect the class she has maintained in an often classless fashion and modeling industry. But some people should stick to what they know.

Cindy, my God! In this movie, you were just in your lovely apartment overlooking the water. Your apartment is then blown up, you are blown off the balcony into the water, your cat is toast and all your possessions are gone. Oh, and by the way, a bunch of very bad people are now trying to shoot you dead. You get out of the cold water, run for your life and get taken to a safe house where the 2nd rate Baldwin asks you `So, how do you feel?' And Cindy says with the intensity of a heroin addict, `Like my life just exploded. What is this place, Motel Hell?' She said it like she was reading the phone book! A real actress would have been looking at the cop like he was nuts! And she would have delivered the lines accordingly. It gets worse...

Did you see the very first scene in the movie where Cindy's character is jogging and gets shot? Did you notice her slowing down to hit her mark and wait for the shot? I've never heard or seen anyone more stilted and lifeless except for a really bored telemarketer.

The writing was just BAD, and the movie was just about look how good Cindy looks after being dumped in water and having no shower. Notice her lips still had color? Did they have the long-lasting stuff back then?

Luckily it wasn't the kind of bad where you can't sit and laugh at it. You can sit and laugh at this one. In fact, you don't have a choice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheesy but...., Aug 13 2003
This review is from: Fair Game (Full Screen) (DVD)
The acting is mechanical, and the plot was written by space aliens. Incredibly, there are some good points to the movie. The graphic violence alone is worth the money. There is also the mandatory love scene. It is basically an R-rated kid movie, because as far as the plot is concerned, it assumes the viewer is a brain-dead zombie who only responds to images of Cindy Crawford. Yes, that would be me. If you are a fan of hers, you just can't miss this brainless piece of.. entertainment. Seriously, it IS fun, but don't expect it to be a deep film. It is one of the shallowest movies ever made. And if those are KGB agents, then I am Michael Jackson.

It was the funniest moment in the movie. You will burst an organ. Decent action scenes, Crawford running, what more do you want? Oh yeah, Salma Hayek is in the movie for about three minutes. Thankfully. Funny stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent action movie with super Cindy, Mar 1 2002

The story is illogical. Cindy is a busy lawyer and Baldwin is the cop and some ex KGB agents with absurd reasons are hunting her down. But who really cares about the plot once the chase begin. Cindy Crawford's good look is enough to sit through this silly but rather enjoyable action movie. Another bonus is you can see a glimpse of Cindy changing her T shirt and a brief love scene. The downside, the DVD is in full screen and no other special features. I also bought a region 3 version and it is in wide screen and also in Dolby 5.1 and it is playable in region 1 players so if you insist of having to see this movie in WS you can get the region 3 version instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent movie, Horrible DVD, Feb 11 2002
By
This review is from: Fair Game (Full Screen) (DVD)
This movie isn't really that bad. Sure the plot is cheesy and the accents are horrible, but that's it. There is a couple of cool action sequences and some funny lines. The acting by Baldwin is alright, nothing spectacular; Cindy Crawford really surprised me though, for a supermodel her acting was real good, not oscar caliber but she was believable.

Now the DVD.
Horrible, first of all it is full frame; no widescreen at all. No trailers or extras, and the picture quality sucks. You should buy the vhs version and wait until they release a decent dvd for this.

Fair Game the movie: 7/10
Fair Game the DVD: 1/10

2.0 out of 5 stars Rather lame, Jun 13 2001
By
The Glider (Birmingham,England UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fair Game (VHS Tape)
This film isn't really very good at all.For some reason at the beginning of the film, some Russian bad guys start shooting at Cindy Crawford's character while she is jogging along a street.Yet from here and through the rest of the film we are never really told why this is so,so the plot makes very little sense indeed. All we see is some Russian villains chasing the two main characters, but no explanation is ever given as to what their motives are for doing this. So,with the plot making next to no sense,we're not off to the best of starts. But,even without a decent story to guide it along, this movie has problems. The acting from all concerned is quite laughably awful. They all sound camper than Walpole, and are sending the characters they're imitating from classic action thrillers up.They sound as if they are reading their lines from large cue cards placed in front of them. And the character development truly stinks,Baldwin's character getting quite choked up about the deaths of others in the film without the viewer ever really understanding who they were or why he was so riled about them going. Some of the action is quite enthralling, there are some terrific explosions here and there... and there is quite a funny scene involving some phone wires getting crossed with a black store clerk. It would be possible to say all that was mentioned above were not really to be expected from an action movie, but unfortunately,to care about the outcome of the good/bad characters ,this is not so.Overall,a very misguided,or from my angle,mis-glided effort.
