5.0 out of 5 stars a powerful movie about murder, cover up and conspiracy with a military backdrop
this is a movie of murder, mystery and intrigue set against the back
drop of a military base.i found this movie very riveting and
engaging, although very disturbing.it's quite graphic in it's depiction
of violence.i liked the fact that you never really know who the bad
guys are until the end.there are a lot of twists and turns, with clues

3.0 out of 5 stars OK
Pretty good movie. James Woods did a great job (as usual) and John Travolta did a pretty good job. It definitely keeps you 'on the edge' and keeps you interested and guessing until the end....There is one disturbing rape scene that I wish I had known about BEFORE I saw the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars DeMille does it again, another real winner of a read., Sep 10 2011
This review is from: NEW General's Daughter (DVD) (DVD)
The movie was nearly as good as the book. I would have liked to have seen Bruce Willis as the main man.

I had read the book and the movie was nearly as good as the book.

engaging, although very disturbing.it's quite graphic in it's depiction
of violence.i liked the fact that you never really know who the bad
guys are until the end.there are a lot of twists and turns, with clues
(and anti clues)along the way.naturally,having a military setting,there
is of course a cover up afoot by certain individuals who want the truth
to remain untold.the movie also has holds some surprising and explosive
revelations.John Travolta stars in this one, along with Madeline
Stowe,Timothy Hutton and James Cromwell.i'm not really a Travolta
fan,but he's OK in this movie as the lead investigator assigned to the
case.Stowe plays his partner of sorts, and handles her role
well.Cromwell is the top ranking General whose daughter is the focal
point of the mystery.Hutton plays a high ranking Colonel whose
allegiance hard to pin down.i really got into this movie and stayed
riveted to the end.The General's Daughter gets a 4.5/5 from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternative Ending is the Best!!, Feb 29 2004
By
This review is from: Generals Daughter, the (VHS Tape)
In the special edition at the end of the tape, they show an alternative ending. It is much better than the original ending.

As usual, Travolta stands out. He does an excellent job of portraying a Warrant Officer and puts military, officer B.S. in its place.

As good as the movie is, the book is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars John Travolta finally shows acting ability., Feb 28 2004
This review is from: Generals Daughter, the (VHS Tape)
This movie was fantastically cast with a superb plot that will keep you guessing until the very end. Actor John Travolta has not played this good a part and in such good a fashion since he starred with Olivia Newton John in Saturday Night Fever.
John Travolta is with the investigating team in the army when the General's daughter is murdered. The problem is, the murder is made to look like a rape, yet clearly isn't. The maze of twists and turns this movie takes you down will have you on the edge of your seat. I like the line "There is a right way, a wrong way, and the Army way" because John Travolta must risk his career and all he has going for him to choose which way he will take. Rent or buy it today - you won't be sorry.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, buy the book!, Jan 20 2004
This review is from: NEW General's Daughter (DVD) (DVD)
The engrossing Nelson DeMille novel was turned into a boring, hard to follow, predictable movie. The book draws you into Ann Cambell's world, the movie never does. It is a complicated story with many twists and turns and there is no way a 2 hour movie could do it justice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!, Oct 23 2003
This review is from: NEW General's Daughter (DVD) (DVD)
There was some good acting in The General's Daughter. John Travolta, James Woods and James Cromwell as usual acted very well but still this movie was flawed, it was very uneven and seemed so forced and rushed that I was left with a feeling of disappointment and that this could have been better and it's not a movie I would want to buy or even rent to watch again.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Didn't Like It!, Mar 23 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Generals Daughter, the (VHS Tape)
I like John Travolta so when my sister went to the video store and rented a tape of The General's Daughter I watched it with her but I didn't like the movie at all, it was very disappointing and my sister who usually has different tastes in movies then me didn't like it either. Maybe the book is better but after watching this terrible movie I have no desire to read the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I've seen better, Jan 21 2003
This review is from: Generals Daughter, the (VHS Tape)
It's suspensful enough, but really didn't grasp my attention. Travolta was good, as usual, except for his southern accent. I also found the story hard to follow until I went back and watched it the second time. I was say judge for yourself, but it's not one of my favorites.
