Basic Dog info but...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Havanese: A Complete and Reliable Handbook (Hardcover)
I am very disappointed with this book. It is so generic! The history of the breed is all over the web. What we really need is a guide to getting one, dealing with Havanese specific problems, training, and issues that come up. I know more than this book!

General puppy book - Not really on Havanese,
By
This review is from: Havanese: A Complete and Reliable Handbook (Hardcover)
Although this was the only book on Havanese that I could find, it was not what I wanted. It was a general puppy care book with Havanese pictures. Important issues related to the health and care of Havanese were not mentioned or addressed. Don't waste your money unless you are just paying for the pictures. Buy a more inclusive puppy care book if this is what you're looking for.

wonderfully written book specific to Havanese, tho of course much is applicable to other bichon breeds.I disagree with one reviewer that this is not a boilerplate book, but entirely specifically written. Many beautiful pics too. This will be my favorite handbook when I get a pup.

Sadly lacking in health information.,

This review is from: Havanese: A Complete and Reliable Handbook (Hardcover)
This book contains very little original information on Havanese. Most of the book is stock TFH text with Havanese pictures. There are significant health issues associated with this breed (ie, cataracts, chondrodysplasia) that are not mentioned at all...the health issues mentioned are completely generic.

Having read the wonderful, "Bichon Havanese"by Zoila Portuondo Guerra, (which is unfortunately not available through Amazon in the States,) I was very disappointed with this book, since it completely ignored health issues that should be watched in the breed. The book seems quite generic in nature and could apply to almost any breed.

This review is from: Havanese: A Complete and Reliable Handbook (Hardcover)
I found this book to be very helpful to me as I could not find any books on the Havanese Breed. I learned a lot about its history. They were many helpful hint on training your puppy. Many of the suggestions I am using. I also loved all the different pictures that were showen in the book. It gave me an idea what to expect as my pet developes with age. He is at this time 3 and 1/2 months. His name is Patrick Murphy. I don't know of any one that has the Havanese Breed. Eileen Roy

This is a great handbook for havanese. The breed being so rare, it is hard to find good experience on paper. I plan on giving each of my new puppy owners a book. Thank you for supplying this book. Sincerely, Laura Helmon
