A decent book, but not as great as some of Maddox' other stuff,

This review is from: Alphabet Of Manliness (Hardcover)
I had some pretty high expectations for this book and I definitely can't say that I was disappointed, but I wasn't all that impressed either. There were some pretty funny parts, but overall it was not the kind of humor that makes you laugh out loud. In fact some parts were pretty boring to read.Structuring it like an alphabetical guide was definitely a nice idea and the extensive usage of illustrations was essential. In fact they are probably the most consistently funny thing about it. I'm not sure whether spending [...] bucks on this thing was money well spent, but it is reasonably entertaining so check it out if you can get your hands on it.

This book is great. It's really similar to the site humor-wise but it's totally different in the way it's presented. This book is funny as a whole. I couldn't stop smiling and had a chubby all the way through. Buy it or Maddox will punch a baby. Oh wait, he's going to do that either way.

I bet you will be speechless right after you read the first few pages. They are that astonishing, original and provocative. I laughed out loud so many times because this is the very best humoristic book I have ever laid eyes on and I am an avid reader. I am not a “fan” of Maddox nor I knew about his web site so my impressions about him and his mind blowing entertainment are entirely based on this truly very, very manly book. It is organized into 26 small sections, one for each letter of the alphabet.I am sure that you won’t be able to put it down after you read just the first one dedicated to Ass kicking. I don’t know whether you will grow extra hair and your testosterone will skyrocket after you read the book but I am sure that you will be thrilled to have a copy of it and reread it again and again. Additional bestseller worth praising as well is “Scientifically guaranteed male multi-orgasms and ultimate sex” by scientist Ritz. I dare say that these books are a great pair and will open your eyes for so many “must know” manly secrets. Keep it up.

Please help me it's starting to hurt,
This review is from: Alphabet Of Manliness (Hardcover)
The book itself was excellent. Most impressively, Maddox managed to keep the book from losing it's novelty. You'd think an A-Z book would get boring, but The Alphabet of Manliness actually seemed a little funnier towards the end. However, during the course of reading the book I found myself starting to get aroused. Even after finishing the book this situation had not changed. At first I was happy because I noticed my condition appeared bigger than I remembered, but after hours I started to get worried. It has been two days now and my problem remains. I've tried everything from watching The View, to eating salad, to listening to Dashboard Confessional and nothing is working. If you know of any medicines I can take or have any other suggestions to relieve my problem please tell me. Ha-ha.Another Amazon purchase I enjoyed, along with Maddox' Alphabet of Manliness, was The Loser's Club by Richard Perez.

Maddox is hilarious. This book is well worth your time and money. The only real complaint is that it is too short.

Big Fan,

I am a big, big Maddox fan and this book is everything I expected and more. Ah, to be able to do the things Maddox imagines... What will he think of next? He hasn't posted much to his site these days, so hopefully he's saving it all for another book... Also HIGHLY recommend: GOD IS A WOMAN: DATING DISASTERS. The best in the fratire genre, no doubt.

WOW, what a book! Highly recommended!,

This incredible book is about great, original and laugh-out-loud humor. I like to read funny and interesting things but nothing even comes close. The author really knows how to entertain you until you can hardly breathe from laughter. The content is well structured and allows you to pinpoint the humor's direction you are in mood to read.I guess it takes a lot to come up with so many and hilarious but really extremely manly recommendations and comparisons. I can't explain it otherwise but the author is a genius in the areas of humor and writing. This is definitely a book every bored, serious and hard working man should have and reread from time to time just as a reminder that it's such a great and awesome thing to be a man. Additional men's bestseller I liked very much is "Scientifically guaranteed male multi-orgasms and ultimate sex". Both books are second to none in their categories and I highly recommend them!

What an AWESOME book! Here's how I came across it: I was reading in a bookstore right near the humour section and I looked up and I saw THE ALPHABET OF MANLINESS, which immediatly intrigued me. I picked it up and read some of it, and it was great. But I didn't buy it. Instead I told my family and friends about this awesome book called THE ALPHABET OF MANLINESS. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I had to buy it, and I did.I was not quite sure that I would enjoy this book as much as I thought I would BUT I DID. My expectations far surpasses what I thought they'd be. It's a really funny book. My favorite chapter was probably 'L is for Lumberjacks'. I don't know why, I just remember enjoying that chapter alot. Maddox has a really great imagination and I loved his stories that were in chapters such as 'N is for Norris, Chuck'. You should definatly check out his website, The Best Page in the Universe and watch his book tour for this book on youtube, and stuff. It's excellent. I only hope that Maddox writes another book really really soon! Reviewed by Callie at Handle Like Hendrix

Novelty wears off fast,

This review is from: Alphabet Of Manliness Revised And Updated (Hardcover)
It's a lot longer than an adeptly written comical internet site based update is but not substantially funnier. The illustrations are amusing enough that it can work as a coffee table book meant to incite discussion, but the best I've found you'll get is an amused snicker and then on to the next topic of conversation. A gimmick book without the substance to make it anything more

Take it or leave it I guess,
This review is from: Alphabet Of Manliness (Hardcover)
This book was kind of a let down for me. It started off with a hillarious first chapter. The problem is that as you continue reading, you can actually feel yourself get dumber. I thought it was funny when i read the preview, so I bought a couple copies to give to my groomsmen as a wedding present. After reading the book, I think I'm just going to leave them in my closet.Think of watching the same simpsons or family guy episode 26 times in a row....the first couple of times it's funny, but after awhile the humor just becomes boring and kind of irritates you. This is exactly how you will feel as you read your way through this book. I suggest instead Tucker max's "i hope they serve beer in hell". Funny the whole way through and much more value |
