5.0 out of 5 stars For girls who wanna have fun!
I had a roommate who was going on a roadtrip, and her road sister (a coooooool chiquita), gave her this book before they left. I picked it up and read the first 20 pages and thought, "Wow, I better put this down now before I actually take her advice and just go!"
Now I'm planning a road trip with my sister, and thought this would be good pre-reading. I was...

Disappointing. The humor is strained and undirected, while useful information is sparse. Silly, rather than genuinely funny. Check out Cynthia Heimel's "Sex Tips for Girls" instead, where you'll find real humor and unintentionally good advice.

Now I'm planning a road trip with my sister, and thought this would be good pre-reading. I was right and more! This book is chock full of fun ideas that are completely adaptable to who, what, where, when and why! I can hardly wait to pile into the car and go now that I've gobbled this book down, and this book will be with me.
Get this book if you are going on a road trip or if you think you might go on a road trip. And if you'd never go on a road trip, get this book and change your mind!

5.0 out of 5 stars Road Trip "must-have", April 9 2004

I purchased this on a whim and it is so good. Even better than the "Bad Girl's Journal." Having taken road trips both solo and with girlfriends in my single days, I was IMMEDIATELY captivated, and kept saying, "how true." I'm buying it for all the girls for Christmas this year. (and it is only April!).

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Plus 5 MORE Stars, Mar 25 2004
This review is from: The Bad Girl's Guide to the Open Road (Vinyl Bound)
Ladies. Do yourself a favor, buy this book! Not only is it RIP ROARINGLY Hilarious, its stuffed full of genuinely useful information as well (I have actually used the "passenger side stall" what a godsend when past the roadside is basically a fifty foot drop!) and of course some not so practically useful but damn entertaining stuff as well.
(Who needs smokey eyeshadow..use the schmutz off your tires! one less thing to bring that takes up room otherwise used for your bad girl contraband!)

This book treats you like the intelligent bold woman you are.
With sound advice on just about anything and ANYONE you will encounter on your roadtrip of life.
Plus a hot pink sticker so you can indentify who else is "cookin under the hood"

"The Bad Girl's Guide to the Open Road" is the first, and greatest, of Tuttle's hugely popular Bad Girl franchise, and for good reason. This book--no kidding--stays in the glove compartment next to my car insurance and registration. Not only is it hysterical, the fun and useless advice (how to use roadside condiments as a facial) are sitting right there next to the all-girls-need-to-know-this advice (how to connect the jumper cables to a car battery). I don't think it would be a stretch to say that Cameron Tuttle saved my life.

Had me laughing out loud. This book is really funny. Cameron Tuttle and I could be sisters as we really think alike. I just wish I could write like her. Fast read, most entertaining.

On a road trip with my girlfriends, we ended up stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours. I turned to this book for a rescue from the boredom. We ended up playing a game suggested in the book where each player starts at a car door and runs around the car opening and closing doors, trying to catch up with the player ahead of them. It was hysterical for us and the other motorists. This book goes on every trip now!

4.0 out of 5 stars very witty, May 31 2003

I love the Bad Girl's publications. They are funny and practical (ok, maybe not everything in them is practical) and a very nice antidote to the people telling us to be more ladylike and reserved. Bad Girls do have more fun!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Guide Like No Other...., April 17 2003

I actually got this as a joke, since I'm taking a road trip this summer. I started reading it, and I couldn't put it down! It's a very quick read, hilarious, and actually offers some practical road-trip advice (like how to pee on the side of the road, or how to cook nachos on your motor). It also gives tips on fixing your car and finding cheap places to stay.
Whether you're planning on traveling alone or with friends, or even if you're not actually planning a road trip but might someday in the future, get this book, read it, and then use the pages for T.P. along the way, as the auther suggests. It is definitely something I will be taking with me, and although I probably won't have random wild sex with hitchhikers along the way, (hello, some is meant to be funny-- not serious), I might just make up an alias to use in places I stop, "jog the dog," or try to talk my way out of a speeding ticket, using the tips described.
This book is fun, fast and entertaining, and now I'm more excited than ever to get on that open road!

Cameron Tuttle does not encourage we women to suddenly go out and do a Thelma and Louise on the unsuspecting back roads of the United States, but she sure knows how to have a good time. For all you gal pals who suddenly get the itch to just "take off" this book is essential to have in your purse, back pack, or glove compartment. Think of it as the kind of book you wish you had when you were a child on all those boring road trips, when you didn't know where you were going or how long it would take to get there. Now, you're in control. You have the road games. You have the laughs. It's even a handy travel diary! It's slim, it's chock full of fun and info, and it's inexpensive. It can't be beat.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could. When it comes to giving car advice, Cameron is funnier than Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers. I bought this book for my teenage daughter but decided to read it first. The book had witty advice, but I was struck dumb when she included advice on how to pee in the bushes. Do women need written instuction on how to perform this basic activity? Don't they learn this in Girl Scouts or anything? Our son perfected the practice when he was 4 years old...Our daughter never did that. Maybe that's why the world needs authors like Ms. Tuttle.
