This review is from: FDR (Audio CD)
If you're looking for a chronological sequence of events around the life of FDR, then this is the book for you. If, however, you want to gain an understanding of his personality, the motivations for his actions, the events and people that shaped his life you will be very disappointed. For my money, the biography of George Washington, "His Excellency", by Joseph Ellis was a much more satisfying reading experience. Ellis captured the essence of the man, predominately noble but at times petty, and presented a portrait of a human being who achieved great thing. Smith's biography of FDR reads like a 1950's news reel.
