Lady Cat rules!,
By
This review is from: Destinys Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
Catherine and Victoria were born twins to Geoffrey and Evangeline Carlisle. Edward was Geoffrey's half brother. He had loved Evangeline, but she loved and married Geoffrey. In his madness he had their house set on fire when Catherine and Victoria were but one year old. A servant found Catherine up that night and instinctively hid when she heard men coming into the house. Once the fire was set, she saw she would be unable to alert the rest of the family. To save the baby, she fled into the night. She gave the baby to an Irish outlaw before she died in hopes of finding a home for the baby. The outlaw, Sean O'Banyon, took her home to his wife to raise her as his own. Catherine grew up with two older brothers and in a family of pirates. Needless to say, she learned many skills females were not suppose to have. As for Victoria, the family survived the house fire. Everyone believed Catherine and the servant had died in the fire. Victoria grew up as an only child with an intelligent head for business, like her father and a lovely lady. The sisters never knew they had a twin somewhere else in the world. Catherine became known as "Lady Cat" a notorious female pirate, who had no parallel! Miles Grayson captured Lady Cat and was amazed to find she looked exactly like his fiancé, Victoria, who had recently been abducted. An idea was born to find Victoria with Cat's help. Thus begins the incredible story of twin sisters and the romance they find with two amazing men. *** Readers, that is the basis of the story. To tell more would let out too many surprises. Edward would unknowingly give both much grief and pain. However, he would also unknowingly bring the family back together. I was enchanted by all the twists and surprises within the complicated plot the author, Susan Grace, had created. I do not begin to tell all the trouble and amazing things. This is an incredible tale that all romance readers would do well to keep an eye out for! ***

First in Cat Series,

This book was amazing. Ms.Grace is a very detailed writer. She takes you right into the story and you feel as if you are the heroines themselves. I loved the missing twin storyline. I loved the fact they fell in love with the other's fiance'. And though Uncle Edward drove me insane with his deviousness, he redeemed himself at the end. It brought tears to my eyes when he saved Lady Cat. I look forward to more of Miles and Cat's story. I've already read Golden Fire about their son. Great book, too.

DESTINY'S LADY by Susan Grace reaches beyond the typical historical romance by defying the conventions of the time; that is, women should be beautiful and mindless. Instead, Susan creates a powerful heroine certain to delight the most feminist heart, yet enchant the worst cynic.Catherine and Victoria are separated during infancy, growing up in vastly different worlds. Known as Catherine O' Banyon to her adoptive family, Catherine was never told that she was a foundling. Catherine grows up to become "Lady Cat," captaining a ship that smuggles of arms in defense of Ireland from the tyranny of William Pitt and King George. Meanwhile, her twin Victoria becomes a businesswoman capable of coping with most stolid board, as well as the fashions and snobbery of London' most elite circles. When Miles Grayson captures `Lady Cat', he finds the perfect image of his missing fiancée, Victoria Carlisle. Everyone believes that Victoria is dead, and Miles is determined to deceive her murderer and bring him to justice. Therefore, he convinces Catherine to take Victoria's place. What he didn't count on was falling in love. This sweeping historical romance encompasses adventure, heartbreak, mystery, two sensual love stories, and a fascinating psychic bond shared by the twins. Because so much groundwork must be laid for such a complex tale, readers may find the beginning a bit slow going. But when Catherine and Miles meet, the tempo quickly heats up, sweeping the reader away on a tide of passion and sensuality. The complex plot and deepening relationships between the characters rewards the reader with a satisfying romantic tale certain to keep the blood boiling. I heartily recommend DESTINY'S LADY to lovers of historical romance.

WARNING - Rape Scene,

I wish one of the other reviewers had mentioned it, for then I wouldn't have wasted my money. I cannot and will not abide this in my escapist entertainment. The real world is full enough of violence toward women. I had been enjoying the experience of reading this book, until it came to a screaching halt - and the book went straight into the trash bin. I hope others of Ms. Grace's books do not and will not include such extreme sexual aggression. I do not care to read it.

An epic historical romance that is spectacular!,
By Sharon Galligar Chance (Wichita Falls, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destinys Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
This epic historical romance combines thrilling adventure, devastating heartbreak, a devious mystery, and two passionate love stories all in one remarkable story. This is truly a remarkable achievement. Because so much background information must be laid for such an elaborate storyline, readers may find the flood of information overwhelming, but it is all so necessary for what is to be a six-volume series. Suffice it to say that it is well worth the effort of staying with the details, because the pay off in the end is blockbuster! Susan Grace has presented the beginnings of a masterpiece of romance. Look for the amazing stories of Catherine and Victoria Carlisle to continue in her next release, "Forever and Beyond," due out in October.Sharon Galligar Chance, Times Record News

Destiny's Lady,
This review is from: Destinys Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
Identical twins Catherine and Victoria have always dreamed each other's dreams. When death threats and a fire send their parents' housekeeper clutching baby Catherine fleeing, the family thinks Catherine is dead. Neither child is told of the other's existence. Catherine is raised by a sea-faring man and ends up sailing on one of his ships. Victoria is raised in society. In a fortuitous twist of fate, both Catherine and Victoria are kidnapped. Machinations of some nefarious folk, including those of the twins' uncle, stand in the way of the twins reuniting with their men. Susan Grace burst onto the historical romance scene with Golden Fire. Destiny's Lady does not live up to the praise heaped on its predecessor. However, it is richly peopled, and full of historical detail. Destiny's Lady is high adventure.
