5.0 out of 5 stars Hungry Bear, Mar 11 2012
This book was purchased to read to a group of preschool children. It worked well. The children enjoyed the story and we talked about the pictures and watched for the big hungry bear. When we did not see him we checked the back cover of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best- one of our favourites, Dec 27 2010

This was always one of the most memorable books from our children's early years, and now I'm buying it for our grandchildren, and our friends' grandchildren. I would never hesitate to recommend this beautifully illustrated and humorous book. We loved the "glasses and nose" disguise, and that the mouse not only chose to share, in the end, but that he/she found such satisfaction in doing so.

This book is so wonderful! It was one of my favourites as a child. I bought it for my 3 year old neice for Christmas, and she loves it too. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is simple but interactive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best children's book ever!, Jan 5 2010
I bought this book when my kids were little. It was always one of their favourites. I also bought a few others by the same author. Beautiful artwork and fun story line. Now my daughter is expecting her first baby and requested her own copy. Our original is very well used.
My own four grown kids still have this book memorized.

5.0 out of 5 stars A PEACH OF A BOOK, July 18 2004

This is one of my very favorite kids' books. There is no
particular moral, the story line is minimal, there is no bear!
But there is a little mouse with one of the most expressive
faces in all of kids' picture books, a huge strawberry, and a
very happy and satisfying ending.

Don and Audrey Wood are an extremely talented couple, both when
they work on separate projects and especially when they work
together.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Fun Book, July 8 2004

My 21 month old loves this book. We read it almost every night, and she fills in the Boom Boom Boom and the Sniff Sniff Sniff's, and at the end says Yum Yum Yum. It is a lot of fun.

The Little Mouse book has a wonderful interplay between the reader and story as it introduces concepts of sharing and how to deal with the threat of a bully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pictures Make this Story - The Strawberry Seems Edible, Feb 1 2004
Both my kids loved this book and I have given it to lots of people. I like the big hardcover because the pictures are so great (although the smaller Board Book is nice). In The mouse offers up the strawberry to the reader to share, and even Mom and Dad feel like they ought to take a piece. Simple story - and although the narrator tells the mouse he ought to take care of his strawberry or a great big hungry bear will eat it, my kids were never scared.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful expression in this character, Dec 22 2003
By A Customer
My son (who is 11) and I picked up a copy while waiting in the Doctor's office. The illustrations drew us in as we leafed through the pages but the story, though simple, made us laugh and held our interest until the end to see how this expressive mouse solved his dilema. I came home and ordered 2 copies, one to keep and one to give as a gift.
