Nice, but not what I was looking for,

I gave the book four stars even though I have decided to not keep it. For those wanting to try some easy beginning home decorating projects this book has several popular examples such as roman shades and decorator pillows. However, this book ended up not being what I was looking for. I was looking for something with a little more instruction for total beginners like myself and almost all the designs rely on a sewing machine, which I don't own.

I wanted this book so bad, so i went with one of the deals, two books for the price of x.]one of the books sewing 101 was on my list as well. Got them home and bingo, same pictures for duvet covers, some of the same identical print...., same insturctions, so i have 2 books, some money invested, and the same photo's. same instrucitons well you get i have a repeat of a book that i was lead to believe was on it's own so to speak and it is not. it is so tiny too.... thanks.

Best Sewing Book Ever,

Hello, this book is small, but wonderful. This is the best home decor sewing book I have found, the instructions are clear and helpful. There is a section on your sewing machine, seams, and everything I wanted to know was here. Finally after sewing classes and many other books, I finished my bedroom curtains, and I'm ready to do more. I can't believe I like to sew. Before it was a chore and made me cry in frustration, I wish I found this book a long time ago. Worth the money, I like the series but this book was the best.

A Must Have for the Do-It-Yourself Decorator!,

As someone who returned to sewing after a 20 year absence, I found this book a wonderful way to "jump start" into projects. The instructions were clear and the illustrations made each project a "never fail" project. Also, there are dozens of tips and sewing term explanations throughout the book that were helpful as well. Coats & Clark even suggests the different fabrics you can use for each project which was a plus for me. I've completed all but one project from the book and get raves from people who see my handiwork. There are so many DIY projects and suggestions for decorating your home in this one book, it was well worth buying.

A great help to a real beginer!,

This book guided me step by step through many projects. Every step is explained in words and pictures, which made it very easy to follow along. I also found the knowing the parts of the machine section in the beginning of the book very helpful. At the end of each project several variations are suggested and explained. Some requiring greater skills, but still achievable ones by the average beginner. My only complaint was that after completing the duvet cover project and making a coordinating flanged pillow set, I realized that the book did not include instructions on making the bed skirt. The photograph that introduces the duvet cover project shows a bed skirt - I think a good addition to the book would be bed skirt instructions. This would allow the beginner to complete a bed redecorate project in the same easy to follow instruction manual.
