The useful information on ACV in this book could be summarised on a single page. All you really need to know is that having a teaspoon or two of unfiltered apple cider vinegar with meals can aid digestion.

I'd read a tiny bit about ACV in a few health books and wanted to know more so I ordered this book from my local library. But in the end I got a lot more information in those brief book mentions of it!

This book is weirdly put together. It is like someone got lots of one and two page advertorials for Bragg ACV products and joined them together to be sold as a book. This isn't even remotely a properly written or researched health book. The book lacks even the most basic information about how ACV works and why. The language used in the book isn't of a professional tone and assumes the reader is not very bright or well read. The information is so poorly laid out and presented, and the content is so sparse and all along you feel you are being sold something.

It is more like a religious type of preaching than a scientific sharing of information. It is very heavy handed. There is also a far bit of actual Christian preaching in the book too.

I also wasn't at all sold on the dietary information in this book either, as I disagree that all of us or even most of us do well on a very high carb diet or a mostly raw diet. It is just not true that raw foods are digested better than cooked ones as the book Eat Fat, Lose Fat: The Healthy Alternative to Trans Fats (among others) explains. Fasting also isn't for everyone and I very much doubt ACV will have any effect at all on your weight.

ACV isn't a cure-all but it is a good product and it can absolutely help digestion. It is essential for me when I eat something that has a significant amount of fat in it; it really helps.

Bragg's makes a quite good ACV product too as far as I am aware. But this book is beyond awful. There are so many other excellent health books out there, I am disappointed my library wasted money on this one.

Instead of buying this 'book' check out real health books such as Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats and Eat Fat, Lose Fat: The Healthy Alternative to Trans Fats and Real Food: What to Eat and Why and many others.

This review is from: Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System (Paperback)
This book is full of information about a product that has been around for centuries, and will not do you any harm. My husband and his whole family have lived on Zantac, Prilosec, Tums, with not much relief..just more drugs. When I heard about cider vinegar (from another book) I told my husband to try it; he didn't think there was much to it. Then, I bought the Bragg Amino Acids from my health food store and this book on Apple Cider Vinegar.

This time, I just started giving him the vinegar honey drink twice a day for a week. He noticed SIGNIFICANT changes in his digestion and has been able to cut back on the Tums, etc. What he didn't realize is that he was LACKING enough stomach acid, and the pills were reducing his acid even more!!!

The Braggs aren't the only ones who know about cider vinegar and it's benefits. I've read books by James Balch MD (Prescription for Nutritional Healing), and M. Ted Morton (Your Health, Your Choice), and they concur on the use of vinegar for indigestion. The Braggs just take the information and expand on the use of vinegar.

The Braggs are vegetarians (I am not), but I still incorporate their advice and wisdom. They are living testimonies to what they teach, and I've learned that prevention if far easier than any "cure"!

1.0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional and Insensitive, Feb 20 2000
This review is from: Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System (Paperback)
I work for a Natural Health Product company, and recently purchased this "book" in order to better understand the popularity of Apple Cider Vinegar. This book lacks relevant, well supported information on the mechanism of action of the product and contains mere testimonials from the authors alone. I was appalled at the language used from authors that claim to have Ph D's. The language used is completely unprofessional and in fact insulting to many readers, especially given that the product is mostly used for weight loss. I quote "[When you see fat people walking around, it is likely that they have stuffed too much fuel into their bodies]". This is only one of the many displays of unprofessional language used within the book. Also, it should be noted that this "book" contains many prayers, which I found to be completely inappropriate to the topic and offensive given its Christain basis. Frankly, I have no idea how this book was ever approved for publish; any affiliation to this "book" should be considered a great embarassment by any reputable publisher. To the potential readers of this "book" I would say, don't waste your time.

1.0 out of 5 stars ACV Benefits lost in incoherent rant, Nov 2 2010
First, I love apple cider vinegar. I've just scratched the surface and wanted to know more, so I ordered this book.

I have never come across a more incoherent, rambling, confusing, unsupported published piece in all my reading life. There is no flow to the book, no coherent layout, no carefully documented research and VERY clearly, no editing. They tried to pack so much rambling into one book, they even printed on the inside of the front cover. Two words for the Bragg's - White space.

If you want to know more about a fantastic product, get a different book. Any one other than this. I am.

1.0 out of 5 stars load of hooey, Nov 24 2010
By
There is no question in my mind of the benefits of apple cider vinegar, both from the little bits of research I've done and from the results of using it.

I picked this book up hoping to collect more information on how it works... it turned out to be a big load of hooey, any real information is unfortunately lost in the 'cheese'. It did, however, make me laugh, lol.

Misinformation at it's finest....

Excellent book!! My mother's rheumatoid arthritis has showed a great deal of improvement with drinking the hot drink. She swims, walks, and exercises at the age of 74. She has no pain and is on only 1 pill for the disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars Apple Cider Vinegar by Bragg, Mar 17 2006

I ordered four copies of this book so I could share them with friends. Over the years I have had at least six other copies but lost track of them as I passed them to others. The information is invaluable, inexpensive, totally natural and most importantly helpful in maintaining good health. I am now 72, very healthy and very active. My mother was a proponent of apple cider vinegar and honey and took it daily.

The book is indexed, has defined headings and is concisely written. It is both interesting and very readable. I highly recommend it.

A lady to whom I lent the book about three hours ago just called to say she is already half way through it! She wanted to know
where she could get her own copy because she wants to underline topics of particularl interest to her.

4.0 out of 5 stars apple cider vinegar !, July 7 2004
By A Customer
Apple Cider Vinegar tastes horrible, but if you can learn to keep it down, its very beneficial.Fortunately, you need not drink it straight. You simply add a few teaspoons to a glass of purified water;you can also add it with raw honey to water. My dad takes apple cider vinegar with water whenever he eats food that is suspect. He has never gotten sick with food poisoning, although many of his colleagues have! For antiseptic purposes, ordinary Heinz or generic apple cider vinegar is acceptable. However, for nutritional purposes, you should use organic, raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with the "mother" of vinegar.Unfiltered vinegar is preferrable. This type of vinegar can be found at a natural foods supermarket.I prefer Bragg or Spectrum Naturals brands. This book will help you use vinegar to maximum benefit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar book is cuckoo but useful, Nov 30 2001

This review is from: Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System (Paperback)
The format, organization and overall chaotic energy in this book screams 'cuckoo - cuckoo', but there is hidden in it some very useful information for anyone interested in feeling better using whole, natural foods.
