5.0 out of 5 stars A Very "Flexible" Book
I liked this book on stretching for several reasons. The first is its simplicity. The pictures and instructions are very straightforward, making it quite easy to do basic stretches. Stretches are given for just about every muscle and limb you'd ever want to stretch and the author has even included some suggested stretching routines for various sports. Whether you're a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the revised edition
First of all, I made the mistake of taking this book because I didn't look to see if it was in French, but I guess that's my fault. The anatomy is sooooo basic for this book. It would be nice if they would put say, "extensors of the legs" instead of "front of leg" (this would be in French of course). Second, this edition is not like the revised edition and therefore has...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very "Flexible" Book, Nov 12 2010
This review is from: Stretching: 30th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
I liked this book on stretching for several reasons. The first is its simplicity. The pictures and instructions are very straightforward, making it quite easy to do basic stretches. Stretches are given for just about every muscle and limb you'd ever want to stretch and the author has even included some suggested stretching routines for various sports. Whether you're a competetive athlete, business person or housewife, I feel that this is book will have something to offer everyone making it a very handy and "flexible" book. Also recommend Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff for anyone looking for more specific rotator cuff and shoulder stretches.

Found this book to be excellent, thorough, and easy-to-understand. The diagrams are very clear and the exercises simple and not time-consuming. It's a wonderful addition to any fitness program.

What a great book. My Chiropracter told me about this book and I found it very expensive in the stores so decided to buy it from Amazon. What a great investment. It has stretches for EVERYTHING. While you work, play, watch T.V., at the office. I admit I haven't gone through the entire book but it is fully illustrated with easy to follow pictures. Whenever I'm in a stretch I feel so much better and wonder why I don't do this stretching stuff more often. My therapist tells me all my muscles are mangled because their so tight. I'll be using this book more often. Very impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding., May 3 2011
This review is from: Stretching: 30th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
I heard about the Andersons' book Stretching from my massage therapist, who thought it was out of print. I was so glad to find it. It's outstanding. I use it daily and have photocopied pages to put by my computer or with my swim gear. The drawings are incredibly clear. It's worth reading the directions, but once done, the drawings are all you need as a reminder. I bought a copy for my daughter as well. Highly highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good we bought it twice, April 23 2010
This review is from: Stretching: 30th Anniversary Edition (Paperback)
This is an excellent book, with clear, easy to follow instructions and illustrations. We first bought this book many years ago, but over the years the original book had gone astray. We now needed the "over fifty" section and were delighted to discover the book still on the market, so bought it again.

First of all, I made the mistake of taking this book because I didn't look to see if it was in French, but I guess that's my fault. The anatomy is sooooo basic for this book. It would be nice if they would put say, "extensors of the legs" instead of "front of leg" (this would be in French of course). Second, this edition is not like the revised edition and therefore has mistakes in it. The one where he grabs his toes for an adductor stretch, does not keep his back straight for a psoas stretch. These are some really outdated stretching! The worst part is, is that it is created in 2009! What the hell! They probably did this like everyother company would do to make money so they have a reason to make a newer version. On top of it I bet I'm not the only one who bought this book by mistake. It says "STRETCHING", not "ÉTIREMENT" on the cover! And you see how most people buy the one in English after this, I wonder why.....
Apart from that and other mistakes I noticed, its got a lot of stretches and pretty good, just misleading and out of date on say 5-10% of things. I am a student half way to become an RMT by the way and have a DEC in Social Science in Quebec city.
