5.0 out of 5 stars Journal Your Way To Fitness
The spiral bound "Dietminder" is a good tool of choice if you're looking for a handy and convenient way of keeping track of your food intake. While there is a space provided to write down your daily physical activity, it is minimal. Readers wanting some serious space to record exercise should check out this author's other "Bodyminder" book.
Okay. The "binder"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I was a little disappointed in that I wanted more of an equal journal - Equal for food and exercise. This is more of a food journal than an exercise journal. If that's what you're looking for then this is great but if you want a journal that's more equal for the amount of food and exercise plus a writing journal laid out on two pages and is for 6 months then I'd suggest...

5.0 out of 5 stars Journal Your Way To Fitness,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)The spiral bound "Dietminder" is a good tool of choice if you're looking for a handy and convenient way of keeping track of your food intake. While there is a space provided to write down your daily physical activity, it is minimal. Readers wanting some serious space to record exercise should check out this author's other "Bodyminder" book.
Okay. The "binder" starts off with tips for using the journal- and includes a general overview of what's contained on each page (remember, this is a journal filled with pages that are all the same). Essentially, this section shows you how to use the journal. Some dietary web resources you can refer to follow.
Next comes a section on setting your goals, complete with pages for before and after photos of the new you. After this, the pages are all the same. On the left side page are places for you to record your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with columns for calories, as well as fat, carb, protein, and fiber grams. The right side page contains a place for snacks, vitamins, daily grand totals, as well as vitamins, supplements, and medications. A small space for physical activity is placed at the bottom, along with an even tinier spot for miscellaneous notes. All-in-all, there's plenty of room on the pages to write down the things you bought the journal for, and the spiral binding makes it easy to write on because you can flip the pages over for a thicker writing surface!
The book ends with a kind of "wrap up" section that contains favorite food facts (i.e. like the number of calories or fat in common foods), a place to graph records, weekly progress charts to write down info such as your weight and other measurements, and some reference calendars. The last page is a plastic page to store things (no,not your snacks).
As you can see, the Dietminder is a compact little tool filled with all the right spaces to keep track of all the right things. This journal, plus a healthy dose of get up and go, should help anyone reach their fitness goals. Readers who have trouble sticking to a diet or exercise program long enought to see results may also be interested in The Sixty-Second Motivator. Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Important Dieting Tool Out There,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)I became aware of the importance of recording what I eat while partaking in a "Rapid Results" program at my local gym (with a personal trainer). I was given a small pocket-sized food log, in which I recorded what I ate and when. This really forced me to take a look at my eating habits, and change them for the better. However, with the small food log I was using, I couldn't record other useful information, such as fat grams, protein, carbs and fiber. So after I filled up that food log, I purchased the Diet Minder's Food and Fitness Journal.
This book contains everything you would want in a food journal and more. First, there are sections in the beginning in which you describe your current physical condition and your goals (there are even places for you to put "before" and "after" pics. Then, on the pages where you record your daily records, there are sections to record calories consumed (as well as fat, carbs, protein and fiber), water consumed, snacks consumed, Vitamins/supplements/meds, physical activity, calories burned during physical activity, weight, and any notes you wish to add.
The Diet Minder's Food and Fitness Journal is perfect for anyone who wants to keep track of what they eat (or how much they exercise), especially if your on a "special" diet where you have to have a certain fat/protein/carbohydrate ratio. It is small enough to take anywhere, but large enough to comfortably record necessary information.
From personal experience I believe that recording food intake and exercise is extremely important when it comes to health and weight loss(of course there are also studies that prove this to be true!). Doing so motivates you to stay with your plan, and try harder to reach your goals. It also gives you a dose of reality when you have to record that piece of cake you had after dinner that just tacked on an extra 350 calories!
I highly recommend this journal to anyone who wants to lose weight and improve his or her health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks fo the MemoryMinder(s)!,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)I'm not sure at what juncture I went from "Foxy" to "Boxy" but any delusions I might have had to the contrary were shattered when my teenage son quietly took me aside and whispered, "You're not wearing THAT, are you?"..."Oh...doesn't look good, huh?" "No, it doesn't." "I'm not that overweight!... Am I?"
Thus I started on the harrowing, fraught with temptations, Road to Recovery. Unfortunately, the Road was littered with diet books, diet plans, a lot of "I'll start Monday(s)" and a few too many candy bars. My 25 extra pounds wanted to stick to me like a bad hairstyle on a special day.
Finally, I realized that the only time I had any success in sticking to a diet was when I wrote down what I ate. But the 79 cent notebooks I used to record my daily food consumption always seemed to get lost after a few weeks and I would go back to my old eating habits.
Enter the DietMinder. Realizing that if I wanted to be healthy and lose weight I decided I needed to take more stringent measures. But I truly believe that "diets" don't work and the only sensible thing to do was to be sensible about how much and what, I ate. So after reading some of the other reviews here, I decided to order my own DietMinder. To make a long story short, IT WORKS! Here, at last, is a journal that gives you a permanent place to record what you eat, how much, calories, etc. There is a small, but certainly adequate, area in which to record what vitamins/supplements you take, the amount of exercise you do, etc. Without having to be fanatical, the journal offers a lot in the way of flexibility. You don't HAVE to write down how many grams of fat you eat or how many carbohydrates, but you CAN if you WANT to. You can record you blood pressure, your cholesterol, your measurements, etc., and there is a small "Favorite Food Facts" list in the back.
As of today, I am into my third DietMinder and it has been exactly six months since I started recorded what I eat. No special diets, just a complete awareness of what I am eating. The journal is just enough a reminder that I don't stray from writing down what I eat and gives you a psychological edge by making you aware whether you eating habits are healthy or not. [We all know that without some self-discipline that piece of cake you eat gives you an automatic excuse to eat everything because, after all, now you've blown everything]. The result is that, seemingly effortlessly, I've lost 21 pounds and can easily fit into Size 10 blue jeans (with the button, not the elastic waist)!
And to keep me honest, well, I anticipate buying many more DietMinders. As they say, try it, you'll like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Companion!,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)Great for anyone who wants to journal the foods eaten on a daily basis, water intake, vitamins for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks in between. Monitor you physical activity on a daily basis and a place for notes and to set goals. This journal is for 90 days only, I wish it were for 6 months instead... but that's ok... results should be since within 3 months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Useful Tool,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)Does not matter what type of food program you are on to be able to use it. There is room on the daily pages to add extra things and notes so you can look back and see why you ended up where you are and to refer back to the "good days" to repeat them. There is also space to record your own food choice calories, etc. at back of book. Am on my fourth book now.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Journal,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)I am someone who has no problem staying within a specific calorie range, however I tend to forget certain food groups, or eat too much of one. This helped me make sure that I get a good balance of everything, and those days where all my carbs came from sugar would be more obvious. It's also got the nutritional info for many foods at the back, and some charts at the front to help with goal setting.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Personal Support Product,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)The DietMinder is a great support asset for those who are serious about watching their diet and is offered from Amazon at excellent value. For me it works best in conjunction with a food scale - which I also purchased from Amazon - and reading nutritution labels..
4.0 out of 5 stars it's pretty good ...,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)I have been tracking my food intake for some time. I have been just using a blank book or even a sheet on my PC. This book is actually pretty much what I was doing 'free style'.
If I could improve upon it, I would just have a tad more space for ' personal' notes. ... but I understand its a food journal, not a diary.
I think it a great product and I will purchase again .... the book it set up for 3 months.
Also ~ it's nice it has a few items listed with caloric values, and space to add some favs and common foods I use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Know what you eat!,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)This nicely-designed 3-month journal is a fabulous resource for anyone who is dieting. My daughter uses it for weight maintenance, my sister uses it for weight loss, and I use it to monitor my special diet. There are sections for recording daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, also calories, fat, carbs, protein and fibre. It's a great way to see if you are eating too much or too little of any particular food group, and knowing what you eat is the first step to adjusting your diet. Wonderful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Accountability Just My Style,
This review is from: DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (Spiral-bound)After giving birth to my baby I was committed to losing weight and becoming a stronger, healthier role model for my daughter. I read a great book, The Business Plan for the Body, and in it, the author wrote that most people fail on changing their eating patterns because they don't keep a food diary. He claims that until the routines of eating healthy are solidified, food journaling is key to success. I've done weight watchers and atkins and have never had great results. It has nothing to do with the validity of either of those programs, it's me! I cheat! For me, there's something different about writing it down. I feel more accountable. I've already lost 32 pounds and am more motivated and satisfied than ever before. This book is wonderfully organized. It has a place to write your long term goals, chart your long term success, and keep day to day track of your food and activity. Further, you can use only the parts of what works for your system, be it points, fiber, fat, carbs, or calories. At the end of each day, there's a place to circle whether or not you met your goal for the day; and I know this sounds SO first grade, but I'm always pumped to circle "YES"!
