5.0 out of 5 stars For those complaining of pain, cankers, headaches, dizziness
I've read a number of reviews here where a person starts on this cleanse, but then stops after a few days because of all the sudden "pains, aches, canker sores, dizziness, pimples, feeling horrible" etc. It IS important to listen to your body, but at the same time...this is a CLEANSING DIET. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lemon Aid?
I read the book. I tried the cleanse. I lasted five days, half of the requirement. All I could think about while on the diet was pigging out on junk food, and that's not something I ordinarily do. I was primarily interested in cleansing, not losing weight. (I have a little tummy bulge, otherwise I'm ok.) The so-called eliminations did not come that frequently, and when...

5.0 out of 5 stars For those complaining of pain, cankers, headaches, dizziness, April 7 2004

This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
I've read a number of reviews here where a person starts on this cleanse, but then stops after a few days because of all the sudden "pains, aches, canker sores, dizziness, pimples, feeling horrible" etc. It IS important to listen to your body, but at the same time...this is a CLEANSING DIET. All the source material about detoxing that I've ever come across makes the point that all such "pain and discomfort" is generally a result of the detox, and is a sign that your body is getting rid of GUNK! The gunk in your cells, tissues, all through your body...it doesn't JUST come out the potty end. If you're suddenly feeling pretty bad a few days into this intense cleanse, that's a very good sign that not only is it working, but that you NEED it. It's no fun to go through the process of releasing toxins, but at the same time, if you can get through it, you will burst onto a whole new level of wellness. If you think about it, rewards often come through a certain level of "trouble", whether it's spending weeks in the library studying a subject to gain knowledge or running 3 blocks to catch the last train. You've got to "get through it" to get the reward. My main point here is: this detox diet is not "bad" because it causes painful (and initial) side effects. That's a sign that it is working to clean out your body.
As a small second note, it amuses me to read the reviews here that rail against the "dangers" of not getting a full daily dose of every vitamin, mineral, etc. during the fast. The average American diet is cheesburgers, fries, coke, and meat-lovers pizzas. This diet seems like a very benign "danger" next to a lifetime of fettucine alfredo!
Fasting isn't for everyone, but if you choose to, you should understand what fasting will do for you, and how.

5.0 out of 5 stars irreplaceable tool for a healthy lifestyle, it's my "Bible", Jan 16 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
I first discovered the fast in Germany during my travels, but did not know it had a name. I was modeling & needed to lose weight. Another model gave me the formula, but only knew it "through the grapevine". In Europe, a commercialization of the fast is available in health food stores. It comes with a little pack of cayenne and directions, but the syrup is a combo of cane & grade B, which is not as good as organic dark Grade B. Several years ago, a company began marketing "Lemon Fast" in health food stores across the U.S. Again, it is the same as the European version. After researching, I discovered the Burroughs foundation in California and ordered several copies of the book from his daughter. I lost, in all, more than 30 pounds over a period of time. I now maintain a vegetarian/mostly vegan lifestyle and cleanse at least twice yearly for 10 days to 2 weeks. My energy is not decreased but instead soars. I am still a professional model. I hand out copies of the book to everyone who is interested and who questions me as to how I stay slim. I cannot tell you how many "normal people" have changed their lives following Mr. Burroughs program. And to think it was written over 50 years ago!! This is one book the drug companies would rather you not have, for sure. It cures everything, including my hypoglycemia, anemia, and cravings. It reassures one of the power of the mind and healing ability of the body. Stick with it for at least 10 days and remember, if you cheat, you're only cheating yourself. Good Luck Everyone. Health and Happiness. *P.

FYI helpful hints... *We now have great 'diet teas' available at pharmacies and health food stores that contain psyllium husk or senna. This can be drunk the night before you begin your fast and again the following night, essentially eliminating the need for the uncomfortable internal-salt-water-bath. Have a diluted version first, as the strength of these items is not regulated and some are quite strong. And leave yourself a couple of hours the first morning to, well, eliminate. The discomfort will pass...get through the first two days and you're home free. Get through the first five and you don't even want the lemonade anymore. *If you feel a wave of nausia or a dizzy spell, it is your body eliminating toxins or passing waste out of your body. DO NOT think it is because you need food. It takes a 24-hr no-food period to begin the cleansing process & eating defeats all the work you've put into it. Breathe deep, and thank yourself for finally cleansing that stuff out. The feeling will pass in a few minutes. You may need to drink an elimination tea that night. *Try the mixture with lemon/lime combos and try it hot. It's delicious. Carry a small water bottle in your purse/case of the lemonade without water[concentrate]. Add to hot water or plain water at work or restaurants if you find you must accompany others. *Herbal tea and green tea is allowed, and helps to avoid caffeine headaches from your coffee withdrawl. It also gives you an alternative to the lemonade and keeps you hydrated. *Stay strong in your mind, focussed on your goal, and don't believe others who tell you you're crazy. They are silently envying your willpower. You don't know until you try

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Cleanse!!!, Jun 29 2006

This cleanse in conjunction with a parasite cleanse and liver flush will be the best thing you could do for your body. After day 3 your headaches and cravings should stop. You don't need to do the salt water flush you can do an am/pm herbal laxative tea with splenda instead. You can switch up with limes instead of lemons and molasses instead of maple syrup. You can take cayenne pepper capsules instead of the real thing. Day 5 is the hardest. One thing to keep in mind is your body goes througha detox every 7th day. So stay on it for at least 7 days, anything less is beneficial but worthless in terms of detoxing. Happy cleansing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick & Easy Solution for Excessive Living, Oct 22 2004
By
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
Well, this book is quick & easy to read, and very easy to understand. I lost 20 pounds, and got rid of that "sluggish" sludgy feeling that comes from overeating, no exercise, and excessive living in general. I did the cleanse for 22 days, and even found a great place on the web for information and support on mastercleanse at yahoo groups - an email list made up of great people - around 700 members.

Another person on the mastercleanse list did the cleanse for 40 days, very successfully, and yet another person did it for 50 days. Water fasts are difficult, but this "lemonade fast" is so easy and really gets results. Buy the book - you won't be sorry! I am so amazed, even coming on here to post a review, that people want to talk about this, and have so much to say because IT WORKS!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A WHOLE NEW ME!, May 24 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
I must say the first 3 days are the hardest.Headache on day 2, probably from no coffee in the morning! After that, smooth sailing.I am in day 6 and feel great! I have no pains in my shoulder, which makes me suffer from rotary cuff tendinitis. I have never in my life slept better, either. I have not used the salt water flush, as the herbal laxative tea, Smooth Move, is doing quite a sufficient job. A little too good, I think. Getting up at 4am to use the bathroom is not my thing! Hopefully, I will continue to lose a little more weight too. I started at 132 and have lost 7 pounds, but am doing this to cleanse my body. The weight loss is an added bonus.I also have not been affected by others eating around me. It even gives me comfort to cook for others--then I can smell it! Cupcakes, cookies, you name it, I make it! You Totally lose cravings for food! Even coke! The pizza brought home was probably the hardest and it was on day3. Hope you all have as good of an experience as me!

5.0 out of 5 stars There's Nothing Like it!!!, Mar 20 2004

This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
I was told about this book by my local Health Food Store owner. I had read much about fasting and had tried a 3 day water fast previously. But, when I got this book, it just seemed like a great way to cleanse through fasting. I couldn't believe the difference between a water fast and the Miracle Cleansing Fast. Not only was it delicious, but I felt no lightheadedness, no headaches, no loss of energy...I just felt terrific! I love the 'clean' feeling, inside, you get from this fast and actually dread going back to eating because of it. I have told many people about the Lemonade Fast and have enjoyed watching as many reluctantly decided to sip my brew and were surprised at how wonderful it tastes. During an 11 day fast, I lost 14 lbs., took it along with me while I played golf, and had absolutely no problems. I love this book, I love doing this fast, and I highly recommend giving this method a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! I FEEL GREAT!!, Jan 30 2004

At the time of this review, I am on day 8 out of 10 on the Master Cleanser program. Though it is tough going without food because it's all around you, for so many days, the lemonade is tasty and does curb your appetite. The stuff that came out of me is unbelievable. Even after 8 days I would think I would be empty, nope. Giving your digestive tract a break enables your body to renew, heal and de-tox. I never suffered from headaches, dizziness or nausea the whole time. I was able to go about my daily routine with only a little fatigue which is from not enough rest. I would imagine a person with chronic ailments and a more toxic system will go through some de-tox symptoms but just do it. This is far better than cemo or the plethera of drugs that one would have to take if they don't do something like this. JUST DO IT!!! It's worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely challenging, yet surpassingly rewarding, Dec 12 2003
By
"ndetjen" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
The Master Cleanser was my first fasting experience to date. My roomate was doing it at the time and after reading the book, decided to join him in the process. A few of my female friends said they tried it for 2-3days and it didn't work, but I didn't let that discourage me. I pulled off the 10days to my friends doubts. I even went out to a bar and drank water while my friends enjoyed their drinks. While fasting, I noticed that our society is soaked with food, the advertising is everywhere from the TV to every street corner. I feel for any American who wants to loose weight. It's not easy in this country. Since I don't eat 3 meals a day, it was a little easier for me to fast. I was only fatigued when I pushed myself in a physical way. After cleaning my system out, I have no fears of getting sick.
My advice to the curious is; If you live with someone, do it together - If you eat a lot daily, cut back for a week before you start, that way the hunger pains won't be as bad - Avoid television, use the time to enlighten yourself with books or discussions - Understand that your body needs cleansing - And what anybody says about the hardships, ignore them and prove to yourself that you can do it. The first days are difficult and so are the last, but in the end you'll come away with a deep appreciation for the foods you eat. Your body will thank you!

4.0 out of 5 stars I felt fantastic, Oct 29 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
I have been on this cleanse several times. The most recent was for 15 days. I lost 14.5 pounds and felt fantastic. No headaches, no major cravings. I had lots of energy and was not lethargic. I told myself each time I took a drink of the lemonade that it was delicious so that I would not weary of the taste of it. I couldn't take the cayenne in the drink (too wimpy), so I took capsules. I took a fiber blend mixed in water that I got from the health food store. I could not believe the junk that my body sluffed off. It was incredible. I gained back 4 pounds when I started eating, but have been able to maintain the 10 pound loss. My family could not believe I could go that long without eating, but it was not hard. The drink was very statisfying. I felt like a million dollars while on the cleanse. I'm anxious to go on it again. I don't agree with all of Burroughs opinions, but I took what worked for me and was impressed with the results. The only drawback for me was on day 10 I got a couple of cankers. I stuck with it for 5 more days, and quit because of the cankers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Giving a Gift to Yourself, Jan 9 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs & Problems (Paperback)
My mother introduced me to the Master Cleanse after we had a discussion on fasting and cleansing your body. The emphasis for me was not to lose weight, but to eliminate my body of undigested food caught in your intenstines that does in-fact cause disease and general unhealth in your body. I am generally a healthy eater, rarely eat meat, refuse fast foods or frozen foods, drink a liter of water a day and am physically active and weigh appx. 115 pds at 5'5". This fast gave me energy and complete peace of mind because I knew I was doing something good for me! I take the time once a year to eliminate the waste that is in my body and that might be causing disease. One other fun results, I've always had cellulite on the thighs and every year I do this fast I eliminate all the cellulite - my thighs look georgeous! Usually it stays away for a few months, but returns after I resume a normal, but healthly diet -this return of cellulite indicates to me the level of chemicals that are processed in our foods and how they really do impact your body! I wish you good luck and a cleanse that will bring you a healthy life!
