This review is from: Quilting by Improvisation: Exploring Curves, Openwork and Dimension (Paperback)
This book is ideal for those ready to expand their knowledge by making improvisational blocks that are not necessarily square. Colour choices, piecing techniques, fabric manipulation are all carefully explained, along with practical tips. Lattice techniques and unusual borders are also explained. This book will be on my most used bookshelf for a long time to come/

This review is from: Quilting by Improvisation: Exploring Curves, Openwork and Dimension (Paperback)
Vikki lays out her approach clearly with great illustrations. Lots of relevant information is given along with troubleshooting for any errors made along the way. The section on binding techniques and creating openings has some great ideas for dealing with distortions caused by the quilting process. It's obvious that the approaches given have come from the experience Vikki has gained working through her art pieces. There are tips every quilt artist could use with ease. Suggestions are made for embellishments that are easy to pull off and add a lot of "bang" to a piece of work. Excellent buy.
