This book is simply a list of ideas, most of them extremely basic, like paint the ceiling a light color to make the walls seem taller, or extremely cheesy and cheap, like covering furniture or a lampshade in wallpaper borders. Innovative ideas like using green plants to make a room feel airy or repeating a color throughout a room to pull it together are plentiful. Many of the ideas are repepeated in different chapters, only phrased differently. I read a few chapters and plan on returning it to exchange for something more unique.

What can I say - I work in a library that owns this book, so I have easy access to it and many other decorating books. But after reading this book excitedly, in one sitting, I feel compelled to buy my own copy. There are so many cute, quick, easy and inexpensive ideas here. Most of the ideas are so simple they really can be described in just a paragraph or two. Thankfully that's what the author does, rather than stretching out instructions to fill up space!

I happened to see Donna Babylon on HGTV one day -- and I loved her easy-going style of presenting information. She didn't talk down to the audience, or act like she had all the answers. And reading her book is just like having a conversation with her. It was exactly the lift I needed to inspire me to redecorate my dull white-walls-leftover-shag-carpet house....right now, I'm sitting in my newly remodeled den (which used to be a small bedroom) -- and after I took up the horrible smelly carpeting -- I PAINTED THE PLYWOOD floor -- and everybody just raves about it!! Donna Babylon ROCKS!!!

Every time someone mentions home decorating, my blood runs cold. I can barely get my outfits to match, much less coordinate a room. That's why my initial reaction when I received "More Splash than Cash" as a housewarming gift was slightly less than enthusiastic.

All that changed, however, the moment I opened the book. Written in a clear, conversational style, I was drawn in right away and not the least bit intimidated. So many straight-forward, creative projects...all within the grasp of this walking Home Ec disaster!

My biggest problem with this book? Prying it out of the hands of my husband!

Bravo! Hope there's a "More Splash than Cash" sequel.

Although the concept and title are not new (my decorating magazines have touted "more splash than cash" stories for years), the book looked intriguing,so I got it. It's OK. Yes, there are some ideas here, but there is great potential for creating clutter, too. I looked for some tips along the way to help me understand how to put it all together but I didn't find anything like that. I need more basics! Without that, what you have in this book is a smattering of OK ideas that may or may not add up to a well-designed room in the end. So, pick and choose projects from this book carefully, and then look for another decorating book that explains the basics so you can actually put a whole room together.

This over hyped book is filled with very few new or fresh ideas. Most of the book filled with bullet point ideas and very little instruction. The book was a good concept but fails to deliver.

More Splash Than Cash delivers the Goods! Finally, a decorating book that delivers MORE than it promises. MORE SPLASH THAN CASH overflows with ideas that anyone from a college student decorating her first dorm room to the more experienced home owner, can take and use to suit her own needs. The ideas are creative and innovative but also are practical and budget minded.

Donna's writing style is easy going and while reading it you feel like you're chatting over coffee with an old friend. Her use of sidebars gives the reader the behind the scenes information they need, a mini lesson, so to speak. The addition of the glossary provides a valuable tool to the reader.

The book is well organized and each chapter deals with a different room or design element. Not to be missed is the "helpful how to" chapter which is one of the most comprehensive I've ever seen.

I'm looking forward to what new tricks Donna has up her sleeve. Hopefully, there will be a More Splash Than Cash II, III and More!

This book is full of ideas that can be used for the whole house. This books explains how to do decorate using your imagination to get what you want out of a room. There are lots of ideas that can be achieved very inexpensively.

Since numbers are my specialty, I need all the help I can get when it comes to decorating. Ms. Babylon's book not only provides the ideas, but tells me exactly how to implement them. This book is terrific.

I really enjoyed this book. If you love decorating, this is the kind of book you can pick up if you have a few minutes and just read a few pages. This is not a coffee table book, it is a book of great hints and tips to spruce up your home. There are no glossy photos, but there is a great "how-to" section for completing some of the projects mentioned. There is also good section on seasonal decorating. If you want ideas for doing fast little projects to decorate your home, get this book.
