Not quite what I expected,
This review is from: Basic Skills for the New Mediator, Second Edition (Paperback)
This book is a long list of questions that the author has prepared and answered. It is not a handbook on basic skills per se. The book also refers to caucusing as a method to mediation, it may be practical for some, but not at all for me, as I am a student learning the four step interest based mediation approach. Where caucusing is an option only when absolutely necessary.I was looking for a book that would teach me skills not a an anecdotal meander through one person's approach.

Great resource,

This review is from: Basic Skills for the New Mediator (Paperback)
I am a construction lawyer in the Washington, D.C. area and found Judge Goodman's book to be just the thing in giving me a primer on mediation approaches. It is organized extremely well, is easy to read, and gave me lots of help as I prepared for my first mediation. The format of questions and answers is perfect for this subject. The only thing I would like to see is a second volume for advanced mediation, since Judge Goodman has much to offer.
