Update - 142 pounds lost and still going!!,
By
This review is from: Looneyspoons: Low-fat Food Made Fun! (Paperback)
I wrote a review of this great cookbook in April when I had lost 73 pounds, using this book among other things. I just wanted to update everyone that I am still with the diet, eating 2-3 of these recipes for dinner each week, and now have lost a total of 142 pounds. I still have a few more to go, so I'm sticking with it. This book will make maintenance much easier - it has lots of great tasting and easy to prepare ideas that we have used to create our own dishes as well.

These two Canadian sisters sure know how to create delicious and healthy recipes. The recipe titles are cute and these dishes are so amazing you'll want more.

This cookbook allows you to make low-calorie, low-fat food that you can serve to friends and family alike, even if they aren't watching what they eat. I love it!

Tasteless!,

These recipes are so incredibly bland! I tried several, followed to the letter, and was shocked how bland they were - I've heard so much about this book.I know several Ukranian babas who wouldn't touch the unrolled cabbage rolls - and not because the shape isn't authentic. Lowfat should not mean tasteless. Spices don't add a lot of calories.

All Fats are NOT Equal,

This review is from: Looneyspoons: Low-fat food made fun! (Paperback)
I bought this book some time ago and almost never use it. The reason - over simplification of the issue of fat in foods. There is such a thing as healthy fats. In this book, the sisters recommend using egg substitutes when the real thing is actually very low in saturated FAT! Not only that, but eggs (grain fed hens) are high in Omega-3 as well! In this same book, several recipes include BACON! Bacon is high in saturated fat and contains cancer-causing nitrates. If you want to lose weight and eat healthier, I recommend The Fat Flush Plan by nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman.
