This book is a wonderful resource for those who work with bereaved children and families. It is full of creative, practical activities to help children and families deal with the death of a loved one. The book also has activities to use with challenging situations, such as traumatic grief, suicide and homicide. There is a curriculum that can be used in therapy or support groups, and a chapter of activities to use in family therapy. In addition, there is a handout for parents and another one for school personnel, to provide them with tips on how to support grieving children. This book is among the best I have seen on this topic, and it will be an invaluable resource for grief therapists, counselors, grief camps, support groups, etc. Other books on this topic I recommend:

Mourning Child Grief Support Group Curriculum (Lehman)
When Dinosaurs Die (Krasny & Brown)
Tear Soup (Schwiebert & Deklyn)
Great Answers to Difficult Questions about Death: What Children Need to Know (Goldman)

This is an excellent resource for practitioners who work with children who have experienced loss. In addition to a variety of smart activities specifically designed for children who are grieving, this well-researched book includes a theoretical overview and guideline for engaging primary caregivers. The author, Liana Lowenstein, covers the core issues that children of all ages deal with when they lose someone that they love in a thoughtful, child-friendly manner. Like Lowenstein's other books, Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth, More Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth, and Creative Interventions for Bereaved Children, this book is easy-to-use and highly effective. I strongly recommend this book.

Other books I recommend:

More Creative Interventions for Troubled Children & Youth

This book offers a large selection of practical exercises that can be used when supporting bereaved children and their families. It also provides general information and assessments that can be used by the practitioner when they meet a new child. The creative interventions can be utilized in a variety of bereavement situations, including trauma and suicide. I liked how each activity is explained step by step and walks you through the entire exercise. This is a resource that will quickly become the go-to book on your shelf.
