Amazing book!,

This review is from: The Forager's Harvest: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants (Paperback)
This is an Amazing book! I have several Wild Edible books and this is by far the best I have ever bought (along with "Natures Garden"). Not only does it have an abundance of very detailed photo's and descriptions of the plants at various growing stages but the author gives personal accounts and stories about his experiences with each plant which makes for a very entertaining read. This is the first Wild Edible book I have read from cover to cover, the rest were used as basic reference guides which included very little detail and mostly just regurgitation of plant information from other sources. This book is the best I have read thus far on the subject of wild edible. Congratulations to Sam Thayer on such a beautiful and informative book!

Great writing, especially good for rural folks,

I really enjoyed reading this book, not only as a reference but the quality of the writing is intimate and familiar; it feels like a conversation with an old friend rather than a manual.I do think that this book would be better suited to those who live in more rural areas, or who have access to more intense equipment like canoes. However, as an urbanite, there are lots of references to wild greens and berries that I can find in the city. All around a great book, not meant to be a complete reference, but especially good for beginners like myself.

this book is just the best in the genra, the fact that the author is walking the talk is great, you know you can truly rely on what he says, i just love the no nonsense way he explaines to you how he tested some of the plants that have been considered non edibles for very long time and what do you know it was just an error and he set it right, just overall a great read.
