I was looking for something a little more comprehensive in the actual use of the program. I felt it was a little short in this area.

I was expecting a comprehensive overview of the Nik software line, but this book wasn't it.

The programs are described in general terms. For most of the filter controls the authors don't tell you what they do, instead telling you to play with them and see what the results are. The example images might have been useful if they were larger, but they are so small that seeing the U-point settings is tricky, and seeing the changes often impossible.

The worked examples at the end are a bit useful, if you want to replicate the particular looks they use. Unfortunately there aren't many.

The history of Nik Software is mildly interesting, but has no relevance to learning how to use the products.

This might be a useful book to read if you're trying to decide whether to buy the Nik software, but once you have the software it won't help you much.

A good solid overview of each program in the NIK Software arsenal. Goes into good detail on each program.
Overall the writing style of the author is a little flat (too cut & dried) for my taste, but the info is all there.
