Makes a lot of sense,
This review is from: Eating in the Raw: A Beginner's Guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Looking Younger the Raw-Food Way (Paperback)
This book makes sense. What I particularly like about it is the fact that Carol Alt does not try to convert anyone to become a "raw only" person, or a vegetarian. So, it is good book for just anybody; unlike the books by Butenkos, in which I found some exaggerated claims. I also liked the Eating in the Raw recipes.Amazon suggests buying this book together with "12 Steps to Raw Foods" by Butenko, but I absolutely disagree with that choice. Firstly, for the reason just mentioned above; secondly, why would you buy two books on the same topic? I find that adding Can We Live 150 Years?, by Tombak would be a more appropriate choice, as Mr. Tombak is also as down-to-earth as Ms. Alt; in addition he broadens the topic of health by so many other issues outside of proper nutrition that very well complement raw eating. Before buying the book, you may want to check www.starthealthylife.com to read many free excerpts provided by the publisher, or to download some free Ebooks about alternative life styles.

Great book for beginners,

This review is from: Eating in the Raw: A Beginner's Guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Looking Younger the Raw-Food Way (Paperback)
I read the whole thing in 2 days. I have tried about 5 or 6 recipes and they were all very surprisingly good, full of taste and easy to create. the wealth of information given in the book is easy to relate for and apply for any average working class person, espacially tips given in shopping. Using her guideline, I was able to go the local health food store and find everything for the recipes, no problems. The basic information I was able to get in here. I think for any beginner, this is the book to start with.

Raw Meat and Dairy?,
This review is from: Eating in the Raw: A Beginner's Guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Looking Younger the Raw-Food Way (Paperback)
For Carol Alt to say that there are nutrients one needs to obtain by eating raw meat or dairy is ridiculous. She needs to do some research!

Great book on the raw food diet,
By

I'm biased in that I love raw food recipes. This book isn't jam-packed with recipes (although there are a few in here) and there are no colour photos of the food inside. What's great about this book is how Carol candidly shares information about how she eats. There is a lengthy description of her struggle with food and how she stumbled on the raw food diet as well as information on which supplements she takes. This isn't my favourite raw food book but I'm pleased to have it in my collection.
