4.0 out of 5 stars Hail Ms Ann Coulter
Quite frankly when I first discovered Ann Coulter while watching

1.0 out of 5 stars ignorant woman..., Dec 9 2004

This review is from: How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Hardcover)
This woman is one of the worst, most ignorant authors I have even attempted to read. This new style of "free speech" seems to have infested the media...making rude and rash comments that hold no merit and no logic. This book wasn't even worth buying. To Ann Coulter, rights should be thrown out the window, tolerance of others should be shot down and marching around with blind ignorance should be praised. I won't even quote things out of this book, its not worth even one star. If you want to read ignorance and stupidity at its worst, go ahead and read this book at a library. But God forbid you buy it and support this woman with your hard-earned money.

But wait, Ann Coulter isn't done, as many know her recent interview on CNN is spreading the internet like wildfire. She thoroughly insulted Canada with comments such as:
"they're lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent as us"
"we could have taken them over so easily"
"all i want is the western portion, the ski hills, the cowboys and the right-wingers"
[we should ridicule them] "because they speak french, we like the english-speaking canadians"

I believe this speaks for itself.
Je suis Canadien et je suis fier de mon pays!!

Simply put- this woman is 'up there' with the short sighted, opinionated and blind neo-cons in Bush's government. This new brand of commentator is truly irritating- nothing a free minded sensative socialist minded person can do is right or correct... only by taking a narrow view of the world (we will MAKE you have a democracy, even though ours doesn't work), not understanding culture and throwing around brave words like freedom, democracy, evil, patriotism, blah blah... can one be deemed 'intelligent'. Nausiating.

Great book, completely true and definetely worth reading. Ann Coulter is very intelligent, and witty, making this book a pleasure to read. Take it from someone who has actually read the book (unlike other reviewers who slam Coulter without even knowing what the book is about).

5.0 out of 5 stars Liberal reviewers rising to the bait?, Mar 25 2005
By
This review is from: How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Hardcover)
I find it slightly ironic that one reviewer accuses Ann Coulter of mudslinging in the same breath as calling right-wingers 'simple-minded' 'self-righteous' and 'hysterical' whilst other like-minded reviewers use terms like 'ignorance and stupidity' and 'short sighted, opinionated and blind' without recourse to any evidence.

I guess you must be the liberals of the title.

Oh, and to the outraged defender of French-speaking Canada, why is it that in Ottawa the road signs are in English and French and yet on the other side of the river in Hull they are only in French? Are you really 'fier' about that?

5.0 out of 5 stars What fun!, Dec 10 2004
By
Don Roberto (Thunder Bay, Ontario) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Hardcover)
Ann Coulter's new book is one of those books that we Tories (at least those of us who consider ourselves learned) smile a bit at in public, then immediately offer disclaimers against, stating how she has gone a bit overboard.

Then we go home, close the front door, and crow: 'Wow, what a woman! She's absolutely right'!

Of course, she's absolutely on the right side of the fence, though not always correct, but I really think that that is not the point. Certainly, she profers not a philosophical dissertation. Rather, she has fashioned quite a brickbat, and she's aiming for your head!

So, it's all in good fun! To those NDP types who might be hurt and offended about what she says about Canadians, please, get a life! Coulter is obviously labouring under the misimpression that all of us have gone off our heads!

And, who can blame her? We on the right here have indeed been the feckless and gagged mealy mouths she complains of too many Republicans in the states. The silence emanating for our quarters is almost deafening! No wonder she thinks that all of us and not just our currency are a bunch of loonies!

To one reviewer, I ask: Can we Canadians speak for ourselves? The answer is a resounding 'yes'. But, svp, not in Francais! How else could you explain a 'minority rule' government in which the left have a clear majority of seats, but not enough to pass any legislation? It is because of our dear friends Bloc Quebecois, and their selfishishness, in which they will sacrifice their own political principles for their so-called 'independence'. Go ahead, I say, break off! Who's asking you to stick around anyhow?

As for the rest of us who haven't lost our sanity, Ann, we hoist a brew to you!

4.0 out of 5 stars A puffed-up Anti-Weight to Michael Moore ..., Oct 22 2005
While, with the self-righteous face of an archangel, the new German chancellor Angela Merkel is sending the holdovers of the 68s generation (Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer) into a preferred retirement, the author and talkshow-guest Ann Coulter is working without any fear via a wild sarcasm in the USA-media. Critics reproach her the durability of her argumentations is brief, instead one can run simply waving a U.S. flag through the streets, this would have the same mental effort. However, she is also an intrepid commentator if it is about defects in her own store. So she criticizes that George W. Bush strives to heave the conservative jurist Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. Except that Miers has engaged against abortion (of course she is religious) and moreover plays bowling well (and also can sew her own clothes), she does not have to produce any broader abilities. Of course it would be important (and Coulter therefore does not give up any important conservative position) to put a stop to the abortion holocaust ( a sort of mass destruction), and it mustn't be necessary to fight for a constitutional right to "stick a fork in a baby's head". But somebody like Harriet Miers personnelly does not have to be the one and only choice. Already enough staff decisions would have been based on (instead of on factual competence) whether one has "horse intellect" (alludes to the organization disaster after hurricane Katarina). Sometimes Ann Coulter is even uncomfortably for her admirers of the extremist right wing (she thinks, it looks a little bit absurd, that it is forbidden to married couple in Connecticut to buy conception contraceptives). But with God at her side she attacks to 90% the Clintonesque Democrats: these even would have noticed themselves by now that her pink conception of the world is correction needy. Coulter's attacks do not shrink back from offending toxicity: The (inferior) Democratic presidency candidate John Kerry is, reading Ann Coulter, only a phony war hero and successful in hunting for old, super rich widows (Teresa Heinz). Under no circumstances you can hear similar bitterness of her regarding the religious married couple Bush . One probably still needs Michael Moore for the addition anyway.

1.0 out of 5 stars More simplemindedness from another rightie simpleton, Dec 26 2004
By
Filthy Rich (Calgary, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Hardcover)
Ann Coulter (like all right wingers) traffics in policital and social emotionalism.

Right wingers never have logical arguments for their simple-minded beliefs - their attitudes are a mix of antiquated religious beliefs and out dated prejudices couched in the guise of self-righteousness.

It's all about abortion, and forcing religious beliefs on the populace. It's all about twisting and distorting facts to support their viewpoints and resorting to mud slinging and insults in the place of calm intellectual debate. Probably because they are all hysterical (and not capable of being calm) and have little intellect or logic to back up their side of things.

BTW - to 'Liz' below who called this book a 'novel'. A novel is fiction - not op ed pieces. If you want to call this book a novel then call it 'fantasy' or 'comedy'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Nov 30 2004
By
This review is from: How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Hardcover)
It is absolutely wonderful how many liberals trashed this 'no-nonense'novel but could not refute a single argument that Ann has made throughout. Ann has openly addressed many issues that the liberals continually ignore, i.e., that abortion kills, mutilates, and destroys women and their babies, how biased our media is when it comes to so called 'human rights' and how despicable our slave-minded nation has become. I absolutely love the comment regarding Ted Kennedy's passion and love for abortion...and how the abortion industry should pay hommage to him by naming an clinic after him entitled, "The Ted Kennedy Late-Term Abortion Clinic". It is so true...yet no-one has the guts and forthright personality other than Ann Coulter to admit to these atrocities. Three cheers for Ann and her boldness in a time of 'Cafeteria Catholics', 'Abortions in the third trimester...for "health" of the woman (even though she is physically healthy (has no imminent physical danger)and her unborn child is physiologically well, and for the "last quadripilegic lesbian that Al Gore would've recruited for the war in Afghanistan had he been president"...unbelievable witt and charm, a must buy for those that are frustrated with the political garbage that seems to overwhelm all of us at some point.

Ann Coulter's supposedly unshakable logic holds true only if one accepts her premise that American wealth and privilege must be protected at all costs.
