5.0 out of 5 stars WOW ! NOW I'M RICH !!!
No, I'm not, but I got your attention ! It's a wonderful book. Here's why. You could actually get rich, but you would likely have to be a similar kind of thinker as Mr. Trump, and you might be. If you are not, you will still glean essential lifeskills and you still might become rich. There are lots of people who don't think like him, and are rich. He is the first to...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Book Ever Written
Yes, this is the worst book that I have ever read - I would imagine the worst book ever written. For someone that brags endlessly about being a perfectionist, he should be embarrassed. If you want to spend your money to have Trump brag non-stop and then ultimately learn nothing, this is the book for you. There have to be at least 30 pictures of the guy. He somehow...

If you want to spend your money to have Trump brag non-stop and then ultimately learn nothing, this is the book for you. There have to be at least 30 pictures of the guy. He somehow manages, between headings and chapter spacing to add an extra 100 pages to the book. One word: pathetic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh PLEASE!, May 18 2004

Pure self-promotion. This book was inconsistent, awkward and too self-involved to be of use to anyone seriously interested in making money. I thought I would be getting a manual of sorts and instead ended up with a name-dropping, self-stroking autobiography that half-attempts to justify ruthless and shameless business tactics. Donald Trump is also hardly self-made and for me that fact detracts from his 'acclaimed' business savvy. I would be more interested in reading accounts of his father's business ventures. The only saving grace to this book is Donald's sense of humor which makes for somewhat entertaining reading. But how to get rich? Not with this book! Oh except for Donald, he'll be making more money!

Donald trump is an idiot! He has lost it and people should not support anything he does. He is reckless and "not all there". Do not buy this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a love letter to himself, May 6 2012
By
This review is from: Trump: How to Get Rich (Hardcover)
I have always admired Donald Trump's story, even though the man himself left me a little...well...nauseated. Still, I thought, I had something to learn from a man who has made and remade himself as many times as Donald Trump had. I was wrong. I just couldn't get past the puffery and infomercial antics to glean any really helpful knowledge. If you're looking for real insight on how to build a business, check out Corporate Credit Unleashed instead, which is a far more helpful and less annoying blueprint to building your own wealth.

Trump is a fascinating character and great at being a celebrity. He's a big believer in the American Dream, and one can't fault him for that. This book is interesting if you approach it wanting to hear his voice in your head and get a little inspiration to keep moving and working toward your own dreams. If you're looking for specific advice or detailed plans, go elsewhere. This is not a book for deep thoughts.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW ! NOW I'M RICH !!!, Jun 22 2004
This review is from: Trump: How to Get Rich (Hardcover)
No, I'm not, but I got your attention ! It's a wonderful book. Here's why. You could actually get rich, but you would likely have to be a similar kind of thinker as Mr. Trump, and you might be. If you are not, you will still glean essential lifeskills and you still might become rich. There are lots of people who don't think like him, and are rich. He is the first to tell you that, and does so in this book, too. If you don't get rich, which is possible (I didn't, but then again I just finished it last night.), you will still gain knowledge for dealing successfully in social and business settings.

Open the book and Donald Trump tells you the kind of advice your rich uncle would impart, if you had one. But your rich uncle would also tell you it takes more than this, you must apply it to what method works for you. Mr. Trump agrees and makes this point several times. Conversational in style, it's a quick and easily digestable read.

He writes the book with the help of Meredith McIlver, his business assistant, who is given credit on the front cover and in the acknowledgements, but not on the flap or back cover panels, as a co-author. It would be hard to say how much hand she had in the actual writing style, but my guess is, it would be very telltale if he was leaning on her. Also, since he is a 'wheeler dealer' himself, there is every reason to conclude he can turn out this level of articulate prose.

I have noticed there are many critics' comments about his egotism. While there is no doubting that the author is not trying to win any humility awards, he is the first to own up to his behaviour. Just as he is generous with his self praise, he is also equally quick to commend others. When he criticizes, he usually sticks to their actions, not attacking personally and sometimes even goes as far to say they might very well excel in another situation.

Enjoy this opportunity Mr. Trump offers and let the wisdom sink in. There is something helpful for everyone, you have my word on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but few insights., July 30 2011

When I bought "How to get Rich" I was hoping for a book that would offer some insight as to how Donald Trump got rich. From what I can derive from this book he acheived success in three steps.

1. He got lucky and had a father in real estate.
2. He got lucky and didn't loose his shirt on his first property.
3. He smooth talked his way into the good graces of bank managers and wealthy
investors.

The rest is history.

This book has nothing to offer a regular person who wants to make the most of their life and skills. It is a good picture of how Donald achieved his wealth and it has more to do with his personality than business prowess.

If you are interested in Donald Trump the celebrity don't be discouraged by the title. "How to Get Rich" has little to do with real business and much to do with his personality and his celebrity.

Business students can skip this one Trump enthusiasts will eat this up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great look inside Donald's business dealings, July 7 2004

Short, concise, and to the point. That's the way the book is written and that's the way I like it. Get to the point, don't B.S., then move on. The brief sections makes it easy to read and reference. Just like his buildings, the layout and design of this book makes it enjoyable.
I don't believe he's given away all of his secrets, but it's very interesting to see what goes on in the day in the life of Donald Trump. I also beleive he was hamming it up a bit (probably to some perspective clients, lenders, and customers), but that's ok. I wouldn't expect anything less.
The way he describes handling obstacles that cross his path is actually inspiring. It kind of keeps things in perspective. He may deal in millions, but I figure anyone's obstacles can be overcome if they use his processes with dealing with them.
Even if you don't like him, it's fascinating to see how his life works (and that's just the part he let's us see). I, for one, appreciate the doors being open for others.

While many people achieve wealth, how many actually share the wealth of their knowledge? Donald has in this great book. Thank you Donald for sharing. Great book and you have had a great year.
