I enjoyed this book right from the start and was amazed at the concept of the writers technic and how he discovered it. I have read several books on the subject of Hypnosis and found most talk about hypnosis but are short on technics to get started in using their technics.In fact I lost interest in what most writers on the subject say. Usually the first 200 pages bore you to death, by the time you get any useful information on using Hypnosis, you are so confused you could care less.The reading of the introduction to the technics he uses, the explaining of the myths and what can be accomplished, are easy reading and very informative. After what seems like minutes you are already into trying his technics. He also provides trance wordings to many subjects such weight loss, public speaking, quit smoking, and the list goes and on. So I recommend this book highly to those that want to try something to help solve a problem or provide peace and stillness to your mind. The book however is not written as an in depth book on Hypnotism, the title states exactly what the book is: How to Hypnotise Yourself With Your Eyes Open. Does it work for everyone, not sure this matters? You have try it for yourself. The technic is easy, why not give it a try?

35 useful scripts for self hypnosis,

This book is essentially a script book for self-hypnosis. At the beginning of the book is a general induction you can use to induce yourself into a trance state, followed by a selection of 35 scripts for dealing with common issues and helping you to improve your life. You'll find scipts for weight-loss, confidence, motivation, public speaking, lucid dreaming, better sex life and many others.The book is marketed as using hypnosis while you're awake. This may seem to make it different from other hypnosis books, unless you understand that you are using hypnosis every time you use your imagination and get absorbed by your inner experience - and for that matter any time you read any book that transports you into another world, the world described in that book and you become oblivious to your environment to a certain degree, you are in hypnosis - much like you are in hypnosis when you are absorbed in the action of the movie you are watching on TV. The only difference is that with TV you get to watch the images, and while reading the book, you create them in your mind, according to your interpretation of the words. You can use the scripts in this book either by reading them, but you can also record them on a tape and just relax and listen to them. You should use whatever method helps you to engage your imagination better and create a more vivid subjective experience. This book was created for non-hypnotists - however even a professional hypnotist, particularly those who are new to hypnosis, may use this book as an additional resource - just as they would use any other script (patter) book. Near the end of the book is a section on hypnotizing yourself while you write. This has brought to my mind another book "The Einstein Factor" and the method called "image streaming" which you may also experiment with; as well as mind-mapping, which is particularly useful for drawing the information out of your subconscious mind. The next section, Suggestion Template, guides you through a process which will help you to create successful suggestions that will be customized to your personality, preferences and your specific outcome. The book contains few additional sections with useful information on supercharging your affirmation and getting the best results out of your self-hypnosis session.

If you are like me, you probably have had many preconceptions about hypnosis. In reality, we all access this state of consciousness frequently, for example, at a scary movie if you find yourself squirming in your seat while watching the movie you are probably in this state.As you read this book, you realise that hypnosis really is the ability to use the power of your imagination, while minimising the interference of your conscious mind, to effect permanent and positive benefits in your mind and body, and to break free of those behaviors that do not serve you. You are learning the skill of communicating with yourself on a deeper level. This book is organised in a very easy to use manner. There are scripts for 35 different situations ranging from stress to procrastination, better sex, smoking, problem solving etc. For example, if you were to use the rapid healing script, you read the induction which involves you going down in an elevator, and gradually feeling more and more relaxed till you get to the bottom, then if you wish you may use the deepening script to get into an even deeper state. Then you read out loud the script itself. I noticed that a cut I had, started healing much faster after I read this script. Then, as you practice it more and more, it gets easier to do and you can really feel the effects. When I read the induction out loud, it worked very well. Then as I used the deepening script I went into the deepest state I believe I have ever consciously experienced. Amazing. There really is amazing power to this technique. Naturally, you do need to practice this for a while before the changes become permanent. Can you imagine how great you would feel if you were to finally have mastery over your behavior and your emotions? He also explains why affirmations often do not work. Affirmations can work well if they are done properly. If you do use them in conjuntion with the techniques in this book, then obviously they would be even more effective. I also highly recommend EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique. Imagine letting go of issues such as stress, anger, sadness, anxiety, sadness, phobias, unforgiveness, by doing a simple acupressure technique which you can do in less than two minutes. You can research this further and download a free manual at [...], and buy various books at Amazon. I hope this was helpful, and I wish I had read this book years ago.

Brain surgery... oops Hypnosis self taught,

Interesting book. The font cover says, "Hypnotize yourself as you read." I can do that reading Mary Shelley. The technique works but this book claims you can clear everything up but warts on your own. On the surface, this works well for some folk. The problem is that many of the bad habits are just symptoms of the underlying problem and if you stifle the problem one-way it may pop-up unexpectedly in another way. I am far from an authority on hypnosis or habit causes. However, if it were I, I would look twice at this miracle cure.Yet I bought the book any way and am going through it. In the back of the book are customized suggestion templates. However, I cannot stand to write in books so I made my own copy.

I have been using "Hypnotize Yourself As You Read" for weight loss and it really works! I have lost 8 pounds in the first week and it was amazingly effortless. I have NO CRAVINGS for sweets or "bad foods" I can go grocery shopping or out to eat and never crave food that's bad for me. I'm not hungry until it's time to eat a meal...which I eat slowly and thoroughly enjoy. I no longer eat just to eat, or when I'm bored. I have tried everything there is to lose and this is the first time I feel that I am in control!The book is also very helpful to anyone who needs a little help with life's problems...I will use this book until it falls apart! Buy this book....you won't regret it!

Different than the other books about self-hypnosis,

I have a psychology background and know a bit about hypnosis. And this idea made me say, "Now why didn't I think of that?!" Great, simple concept. Wonderful scripts on smoking cessation and making more money. There's also this great bonus at the end that teaches you how to hypnotize someone else instantly. I've been using it with my girlfriend...we're having a great time with it. The script on better sex really has had a noticable effect. This is very different from the other boring books on self-hypnosis. And you can't fall asleep while you apply it!

This book is a very quick, easy and enjoyable read, allowing you to begin using self-hypnosis techniques almost immediately. Keeping detail to a minimum, the author explains how we have programmed ourselves to believe certain things or to act certain ways, that hypnosis is safe - you are always in control and how you can reprogram yourself. You can hypnotize yourself, in fact all hypnosis, whether or not a hypnotist is present, is self-hypnosisThis book clearly explains how to do self-hypnosis, provides several master inductions (the script to lead you into a relaxed hypnotic state), the wake-up script and 35 specific scripts to address issues such as: weight loss, self-confidence, taking exams, creative problem solving, procrastination, public speaking, flying without fear, visiting the dentist, etc. You are also shown how to write your own scripts or modify existing scripts if your issue is not fully covered by one of the existing scripts. In a couple of situations, you may wish to modify the scripts provided by the author. For example, the script for public speaking has the following sentence: "I will focus on what I am saying without feeling nervous or embarrassed." It is better to say, "I will focus on what I am saying while feeling fully relaxed and confident." That is focus on what you want rather than what you don't want.

I never thought studying hypnosis could be so easy and so fun! That's what I love about this book---it's extremely lay-person-friendly (no unexplained jargon) and it's easy to sense the author's enthusiasm for his discovery. This makes his writing so much more capable of helping the reader to achieve a state of hypnosis. It's really easy to be hypnotized and best of all, you're your own hypnotist! I was especially impressed with Mr. Blair's nightclub analogy to explain how the subconscious operates and why the other coaching techniques, Dr. Phil approaches, etc. have a lower success rate than good hypnosis can. I was hypnotized just reading all the background info in the first couple of chapters. I have trouble with stress-management and I feel so much more relaxed now. My anxiety-level has been curbed greatly after only a couple of self-sessions. Blair also teaches you how to write yourself into hypnosis and how to customize your scripts to meet your own personal goals; so, you trully do become your own hypnotherapist! He shows you how simple it is to turn this into a way to give the therapy to others. It's SO simple. Do NOT be intimidated if you know nothing about hypnosis. You will practically be an expert on the subject when you've finished reading the book. Be sure to put this one at the head of your arsenal of self-help books!

I have been searching and searching for something that would help with my weight problem - I'm 67 - almost 68 - and have dieted myself to over 300 lbs. Everytime I started another diet program, my subconscious said, been there, done that, don't think so. And I got ravenously hungry - eating a half gallon of ice cream was a fairly frequent occasion for me. I was always hungry - could eat a huge meal and be hungry again a couple hours later. Mexican food was comfort food for me. I have done hypnotherapy and every diet you can name practically. But nothing handled the problem.After running across this book yesterday, I decided to start using it this morning, I did both the weight loss and the eating good food scripts - and so far am not hungry at all - I had a small breakfast and it took me quite a while to get through a banana for a snack. I feel more focused and once this eating problem is under total control, there are several more problems I plan to address using the scripts in the book. I am absolutely amazed so far. I think I am finally getting a handle on my life and I am doing it without spending a fortune. Thank you, Forbes.

A good first book on self hypnosis. The hypnosis in this book is a very light hypnosis and your goals that you seek will take time to take effect. For a small percentage (1 in 20) it may take effect immediatly but for the rest of us it will take some time. The hypnosis with eyes open in this book, happens to all of us every day, while driving our cars, watching TV, daydreaming etc. If you are looking for fast and lasting effects then I would record the scripts that are included in the book (good selection) and listen to it before going to bed. You will have a much better lasting effect than just reading it to yourself as the book tells you to.
