After reading and enjoying Lisa Tucker's, The Song Reader, I was thrilled to be reading another of her books.

The first chapter blew me away. The rest of the story is told going back and forth between the past and present, introducing us to each of the characters and how they were connected to each other. The ending, involving the tree, I thought was brilliant. It left me feeling satisfied after everything that went on in the story and thinking "this is just right and now they can carry on".

This novel kept me guessing throughout and pulled at my heartstrings.
