Wonderful Book!
I am writing this review to contradict the other negative reviews. I am 24 years old and have dabbled in fashion most of my life. Many of the fashion tips may seem rudimentary to another reviewer, but they are the most steadfast rules to go by. For Low Functioning People Only
Thankfully, I only looked at this at the library. Maybe his appetizer recipes are of value, but better can be found elsewhere. The fashion tips are very elementary. They are meant for someone that has never seen a fashion magazine before. People that actually read magazines and books need to look elsewhere for useful information.

I am writing this review to contradict the other negative reviews. I am 24 years old and have dabbled in fashion most of my life. Many of the fashion tips may seem rudimentary to another reviewer, but they are the most steadfast rules to go by. Clinton Kelly could not identify fashion tips specifically for everyone who has read this book. He basically goes over the most important tips and addresses the "most asked questions" in a way. Clinton goes over what can be tailored, why fit is so important, etc. and, all the while, uses his very enjoyable, lighthearted and witty tone. The most helpful section of the book, for me personally, is the grammar section. This section goes over all of the little things we forgot in high school that come up daily, such as the proper uses of "who" and "whom." I was also extremely impressed by the recipes. They are based on his experience with throwing parties (which he goes over in another chapter about how to host a party) that he found to be the most enjoyable to his guests. I thoroughly recommend the book, not only for the all around "fabulousness" advice, but also for Clinton's approach in that he never takes life too seriously.

A Light-hearted Book Meant to be Taken Lightly, Fév 11 2009
What's the huff about? Low-brow humour? It's the funniest kind there is! I'm a librarian and enjoyed this book completely. Yes, I was shocked by how frequently Kelly makes sexual innuendos (every page!); however, this book was filled with terrific tidbits. Particularly interesting was the section on mixing up to four patterns of clothes. As nasty as it was, I also loved the grammar section. None of the example sentences contain topics one would discuss at work (I hope!), but it does reflect how close friends might speak with eachother in private... And now I know how to talk dirty gramatically. ;-) There's more to grammar than the old "Strunk and White."
The etiquette section covered life's little mishaps, such as what to do if one passes gas publicly (Kelly may not know this, but in the Victorian period the man sitting closest to the offending woman gallantly took responsibility for her odor).
If you're a Clinton Kelly fan, or if you need modern fashion, etiquette, or entertaining advice I recommend this book. Just take away the best parts and disregard what displeases you. Have fun!

If Kelly would clean up his potty mouth he could be Freakin Fabulous too. This book fails to deliver. Just little snippets of what we already know and a really dumb section on grammar. Anyone with class would not have written such poor material. I had great expectations and was sorely disappointed.
