I wish Jayne ann would go back to writing about Oliver or Sam or Max in her previous books! Harry seems to be an abrupt departure from what was a successful formula! Please,Jayne ann go back to them! Write more books about those kinds of men I love best!

I LOVE these characters! This is JAK at her best. She just does not get any better. Molly Abberwick owns a tea and spice shop, enjoying her life in Seattle until her father dies and leaves her in charge of his Foundation to help budding inventors. She is now facing a problem. The problem is Dr. Harry Stratton Trevelyn, who is the 'debunker' of fake inventions. He vets the applicants before Molly passes out the money grants. Molly gets very enthusiastic about all sorts of inventions, only to have Harry shoot them down time after time. So far, he has not approved one single invention.
Harry has his own problems. He is caught between the two sides of his family - the very rich socialite Stratton side and his carnival side Trevelyns. Harry is very rich, so the carnival family is always asking him for this and that, with both sides keeping a constant tug of war on Harry. This emotional battlefield has caused Harry to be very self contained, maybe too controlled. The one place his control is let loose is in the bedroom. Also around to cause him headaches is his ex-fiancé, a psychiatrist who thinks Harry might be slightly insane and is trying to warn Molly from to not get involved with him. The final mix to Harry's problem is his is psychic and does not want to admit it. Having been raised in a carnival part-time, he has seen this used as a game, so he does not like to let people know about it.

As Molly slowly gets involved with Harry and the whole cast of his family, someone starts to play dangerous pranks on her, and it is quickly evident someone wants her dead.

The characters are so warm, so loving and with that JAK razzle-dazzle that she has polished to a beautiful diamond finished.

Lets hope she soon gets back to this level of writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely, Positively...oh no, thats just too lame., April 2 2002
By
Zoe "Zoe" (N E Lincs, UK) - See all my reviews
In my opinion this is the last really enjoyable book that was written by JAK before she entered her...shall we say, 'Difficult' phase. Or, as it is more commonly known to her fans, 'The Period of Really Bad Books that Make Us Wish We Had Never Wasted Our Money'.

However, this book is untainted by the Oh-So-Lame virus which blighted her later crop of novels, and is a delightful, humourous romp peppered with moments of surprisingly moving tenderness, as an emotionally scarred Alpha male is taught how to love again by a classic heroine in JAK's inimitable style.

The Alpha male here is an unusually intriguing character, with a background that makes us feel that he may in fact be justified in being such a moody prat, once we learn the full story. And the heroine manages to be stubborn, headstrong and opinionated etc, without being so irritating that you want to strangle her. The story has a nicely plotted intrigue element, which generates a couple of moments of proper menace.

All in all, a fine example of a JAK novel, well worth splashing out on.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of JAK's best and brightest!, Sep 12 2000
By

I love JAK books as a rule, but this one is definitly one of the best. Both Molly and Harry have wonderfully eccentric families, sharp minds, and strong hearts. I especially love paranormal romance, books that involve a sixth sense or strange power, and JAK usually does a good job with them, but Harry's strange power is more interesting then any other I've read about. Anyone who likes JAK, romance with a twist, or just a good read, should try this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It !!, Oct 12 1999

This is only my second of Krentz's novels I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pull and tug between Harry and Molly was great. Romance coupled with a mystery makes for entertaining reading. I will go on to read more of her novels. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's what I call linked up., July 8 1999

This book was a surprisingly good read. I read the storyline and thought it would be more of the same old same old. Then they introduced the sixth sense that totally grabbed my attention. I love reading books with a touch of supernatural without introducing a whole lot of New Age BS. I really enjoyed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lively Romance! Great Read!, Jan 3 1999
By A Customer
This is one of my favourite Krentz comtemporary romances - the other favourite is Deep Waters. Molly and Harry are unique characters, different (she the enthusiastic businesswoman and he the cautious scholar)but sharing a powerful passion for each other. As always in Krentz's books, the hero needs the heroine to help him face his personal demons. In this case, the demons are Harry's psychic ability, his guilt over his parents' murder and his warring families.

Harry, in the meantime, is helping Molly to find the source of some nasty pranks being played on her as well as an attempt on her life. It wasn't difficult to guess "whodunit", but the mystery serves its purpose in bringing these two strong characters together.

Funny in parts and always interesting, Absolutely Positively strengthened my admiration for Krentz's writing.
