Fantastic read - a must have for all papier mache artists!,

This review is from: Papier-Mache Monsters: Turn Trinkets and Trash into Magnificent Monstrosities (Paperback)
This book is written in such a fun and playful manner that you will never get bored of going over it times and times again, which in a sense, helps you understand the instructions even better. The humor will definitely keep your attention. Far from being an experienced papier mache artist myself, I followed Dan Reeder's instructions to the letter and was actually quite amazed at the end results. This book provides you with the basic techniques in a very clear and concise manner, but the emphasis is always on experimentation and freedom: do not try to copy what's in the book - just follow the instructions and watch your own art take its own personality and direction. Highly recommended.

Dan Reeder Papier-Mache Monsters:,
This review is from: Papier-Mache Monsters: Turn Trinkets and Trash into Magnificent Monstrosities (Paperback)
I love Dan Reeder's books. Witty, humorous, entertaining, and filled with pictures. This book: Papier-Mache Monsters: Turn Trinkets and Trash Into Magnificent Monstrosities, includes all the basics. If you wanted "The Simple Screamer" and were hoping for a reprint, you will find this book every bit as well written and user friendly. Even the cats are back to assist. If you are not already a fan of Dan, this book will teach you how to build sturdy, durable cloth covered paper-mache sculptures and statues, from small to life sized. This is a great manual for art class projects as well.

First off, let me say that I have yet to make a papier mache creation since purchasing this book. That being said, I love how informative it is. The photos and various projects to show the different techniques are so wonderful as is the artists' commentary. The added whit and humour only make the book easier to read and as a cat lover, I enjoyed the various appearances made by the house cats. I can't wait to make my first creation.
