The ESV Study Bible is great. One of the best tools I have invested in. It has always helped me in giving good information even in the difficult to understand verses. Although the level of English is at College level, it is easy to understand.
Really happy that Amazon has these in stock and I always get them on the 2nd day. Have bought over 3 of these for my friends and they are all happy with it.
The Study Notes are definitely good. There are a ton of maps, charts and illustrations as well to aid you in your Bible Study.

NOTE: If you wish to have this Bible as a reference tool and you are going to leave this at home most of the time, buy the hard cover version. It costs less and is worth the money if you're not constantly going to turn its pages. If it's going to be your number one Bible where you will be taking it out and using it a lot, I suggest you pay the extra money and get the leather bound Bible. Leather is more durable than the Hard Cover if the Bible is going to be used a lot.

Also, there are some awesome Articles & Resources you get at the back of the original ESV Study Bible (larger in size - [....]) that you don't have in the print version of the ESV Study Bible, Personal Size. To reduce the Bible's size, they have included it as an online resource. So if you want those articles with you, in your Bible, where ever you go, think about getting the ESV Study Bible (link above) instead of the ESV Study Bible, Personal Size.

This is the best study Bible available. The scholarly notes are unsurpassed for clarity and depth-of-learning. Detailed maps and pictorial representations (the ark of the covenant, the temple, Jerusalem, etc) supplement the Scriptures at key points. Articles on major doctrines fill the back pages and are written by leading-experts. An all around outstanding resource.

For those not familiar with this Bible it is large, and heavy. The cover is not leather, but feels good to the touch and is quite tender. The pages have little ghosting, and are very readable with the large text. This Bible is very heavy, and awkward to carry. One should not purchase if they are planning to carry it everywhere. The disadvantages of weight are offset by the considerably large text, and great notes which have accompanying maps. This is all easy on the eyes for reading, but it is necessary to have a desk or table to read from as holding this is tiring. I am very impressed, added two ribbons, and read it everyday as my large print, study Bible for meals, devotions, sermon preparation, and general enjoyment. Not something to carry to church or classrooms, but definitely a valued member of my library which will see many years of life and use. A+++

I use my ESV Study Bible everyday for my devotional time. It's such a great blessing to be able to read more deeply into each verse and use the cross-reference tools. Also, the ESV Study Bible has numerous articles and resources in addition to the study notes which I've only started to get into and already have been greatly impressed by their insight! I strongly recommend this product for any person wanting to seriously study God's Word!

You can do a pretty good study without needing supplementary material. The maps are gorgeous and with rich historical content. I totally recommend it for anyone who wants to learn scripture at a deeper level :)

The ESV is an excellent translation - clear, reliable and accurate. It tries to be inclusive wherever possible, but does not sacrifice accuracy for political correctness. The notes on this new study Bible are very good, though I am not sure they add much to what other study Bibles contain. The problem with the paperback personal edition is the print - it is very small, especially for the study notes. With all the technological advances in print today, I do not understand why a personal size study Bible could not contain larger print or at least darker, more readable print. This seems to be a difficulty for many personal size Bibles today, and it is made worse when it is a study Bible. Still, if you need a travel size Bible to take with you on trips and want a study edition, this is a good one, provided you can read the print without getting a headache.

I will never regret buying this product. From a monetary perspective, Amazon was selling it for the cheapest price, which I was happy for (Indigo selling it for 54.99 + tax). I've been Christian all my life and before purchasing this bible, i never had a desire to study the Bible. This was for more than one reason, but one of the main reasons was that i could never connect with what i was reading. This Bible pulls a reader in from the first article, and it changes from reading a historic and God-inspired book to almost like.... a diary written to you from God and other believers before you. It gives you enough background to understand the environment and culture, as well as explains EVERYTHING you might have a question about in the extensive footnotes. I left every passage of scripture with understanding. IF you're serious about studying and understanding the Bible....GET THIS BIBLE.

I recommend this bible reference text for anyone wanting to know more about the bible. The material is well researched and the long list of contributory biblical scholars is impressive. There are numerous helpful diagrams, maps and charts to assist the reader. At almost 2800 pages the hardcover edition is a little heavy to carry around, but well worth the investment.

I am a student at a reformed Seminary and this Bible has become indispensable for me. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a reformed study bible.

I love this bible, the quality is excellent. I've compared most translations, and while I like something about all of them, I just keep going back to the ESV. The cross cover is beautiful, but the inside is as well. The colored in-text maps are much more helpful than the b&w which all my other bibles have. It has a wealth of good in-depth notes and helps, and will probably take the place of all my other books in my bookcase. It's basically a whole bookcase in one easy to carry lightweight bible. I love the fact that the print size of the bible text is larger than the study notes, because they feel that the Word of God is much more important than the notes of man, and I agree. The print of course is a little small, but that's to be expected in a bible with this much info., but yet in a very handy carry size. If you can read those little pocket new testaments you shouldn't have any trouble reading this. I have previously owned the regular size esv study bible...key word being "previously"...I no longer have it because it was just so big and heavy...I just simply never used it or took it anywhere. This one is so much better, as far as size, and I think it will be my companion for many years to come...and where I go it will go.
