It's about time that a new female hero hits the fiction shelves. Not since "Matilda" and "the Witch of Blackbird Pond" did intermediate level fiction offer the 50% of its readers, who happen to be girls, a role model to emulate.
No less spellbinding than "Shiloh" or "My Side of the Mountain", "The El Dorado Adventure" is loaded with gripping cliff-hanger moments and action packed survival fever. A page turner you won't put down. Recommened for 4th through 7th grade reading. A winner on my book list!*****

This book is one of the high points in the Vesper Holly series, and I hope it becomes available again soon. Though not *quite* as good as the Jedara adventure, it still sparkles, and you get more insight into Helvetius. (Who I think is a fascinating bad guy, and who makes or breaks a book.) Vesper gets to be incredible and brave - but she also she admits she's wrong. It's a nice treat.
