5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, thoughtful analysis - Lieutenant-Governors Medal, March 8 2008
By
This review is from: Salmon: The decline of the British Columbia fisheries (Paperback)
Geoff Meggs captures the immense bounty and productivity of the BC coastal fishery, from both a wealth of research and direct from people who lived it.

He also systematically chronicles the management myopia and political malfeasance that has led to the plundering of this incredible resource by the parties appointed to protect it. The lessons covered in this book are for anyone who is interested in understanding what can go wrong and how to avoid it.

A detailed and systematic analysis that was awarded the
Lieutenant-Governor Medal for Historical Writing the year it was published.

I had to read this book for a course in university. It is actually really good and explains a lot. My family used to fish and this book really hit home. I recommend it if you have any interest in knowing what really happened. The author has a really clear way of looking at things.
