Yay! Now I can make Butter Chicken!,

This review is from: Simply Indian: Sweet and Spicy Recipes from India, Pakistan and East Africa (Paperback)
What a beautiful book! I'm so glad I have it.The recipes are easy to understand and so much fun. I've wanted a book to teach me Indian cooking for a long time, and this book is all I needed, because it has soooooooo many recipes! (Actually, it has *every* Indian recipe I've ever wanted and more.) =) I wish you could see the inside, because it's so pretty - it looks really authentic and the pictures are so vivid and glossy - I can't believe it's so cheap!!! Oh, and it's got lots of tips and there's a little blurb about each dish that is sometimes quite funny (and always helpful). :)

Indian Cooking Made Easy!,
By Lola (Vancouver, B.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Simply Indian: Sweet and Spicy Recipes from India, Pakistan and East Africa (Paperback)
I took two of Tahera's cooking classes 3 years ago. I am pleased that she's finally published her book. I was quite surprised to see it mentioned in a 2003 Cosmopolitan article about enhancing your sensuality! The chicken bhiryana is the best chicken dish I've put into my mouth. I like it better than butter chicken. The vegetarian samosas don't last long on any table. In general, all the dishes are tasty, and most can be easily prepared for a week-day supper. This is a great collection of recipes for a beginner in Indian cooking.

Good book, a bit complex,
This review is from: Simply Indian: Sweet and Spicy Recipes from India, Pakistan and East Africa (Paperback)
My husband and I just bought an Indian spice wheel and we were looking for a book to help us use these spices. This book has some great looking recipes but it is a bit complex and many recipes require other ingredients we didn't have. We are looking forward to trying some out but in the mean time we have been using another book we bought (5 spices, 50 dishes) which has been a great, easy cookbook. The Simply Indian cooking also doesn't have large glossy photos with each page.

I love my Simply Indian cookbook. I have always wanted to cook Indian foods, but felt very intimidated. This book keeps everything simple, and educates you about the different ingredients before you get started.

I always find recipes hard to follow and what to really accompany my meals with....and it is even harder when you have an Indian man in your life who likes curries everyday ...but Tahera makes this book soo easy to follow that I wonder where she has been. Her recipes are so easy and like her title says 'simple'. No fuss, no drama to make it look like I need to be a pro because even an amature can cook like a pro...that is what Tahera's recipes tell me about myself..and I love it. Thanks Tahera.

Great so far!,
This review is from: Simply Indian: Sweet and Spicy Recipes from India, Pakistan and East Africa (Paperback)
I've got a few Indian cookbooks in my kitchen but I've never gotten such good results as I have with this book. I've made several things and have been extremely pleased with everything. Most of the things I've tried are as good if not better than what I've had at Indian restaurants! A definate good buy :)

I bought this book and enjoyed it so much I ended up buying her next one! The recipes are delicious and easy to make and the book itself is quite nice to look at as well. My only complaint would be that there aren't enough photos, but she definitely makes up for this in her second book Simply More Indian! Enjoy!

i received Simply Indian 3 years ago for xmas and have tried many recipes, each one turns out to be better than anything you can find outside in restaurants. some of my indian friends have said to me that the Daal i make(recipe from this book) is of high quality and some have even asked for the recipe. the recipes are easy, you need to find a place to purchase all the spices, and then you are set to go. recipes are healthy and flavourful. you will love this book!
