"Sugar" is an excellent baking cookbook. You will enjoy reading this cookbook and making the recipes. This book is very thorough & informative. Anna Olson has written this book in a friendly and easy to understand manner with very detailed & concise explanations. "Sugar" has 200 pages with some colored photographs. This is my absolute favourite cookbook. I love watching Ms. Olson's show 'Sugar' so I just had to get this cookbook, and it did not disappoint. Everything I've tried so far has turned out great, with easy to follow recipes and great tips scattered throughout the book. My only complaint is that the book didn't have pictures for everything... but then I'd spend too much drooling and not enough time baking! I just noticed Ms. Olson's second installment (Another Cup of Sugar) and I'll definitely be ordering this book!

I love Anna's show and when I purchased this cookbook was excited to try the beautifully photographed desserts.

I was disappointed to find that every recipe I have tried (a total of 4 so far) have not even remotely followed the baking time suggested. In many cased I was having to half the time. I have not had this problem with any other cookbook. I will keep trying ... but for those of you who live in high altitude areas... make sure you watch the desserts you are cooking closely!

After buying her second book, my mother demanded to have the first one. Anna Olson's recipes never disappoint.

This is an excellent collection of baking recipes. The directions are clear and staightforward, with many helpful tips tucked in the margins. Ms. Olsen's recipes range for those oh-so-good comfort foods (e.g. The Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookie) to elegant desserts such as her wonderfully moist Coconut Chiffon Cake layered with lemon curd and iced with coconut cream icing (made it for my father's birthday and he's still asking about when we might have another one...).
If you enjoy baking delicious treats 'from scratch', you'll love this book.
