This book was great for teaching children about being global citizens. It also has links to the onehen.org website, which has additional games, lessons and materials for children. It has beautiful and colourful illustrations.

This book with its' powerful message is a wonderful resource for many ages, not just the posted age 7 - 9, and for many subject areas. It is very suitable for anyone who has to deal with topics of Mathematics, Social Responsbility, Global Citizenship and/or Community. Based on a real life situation in Ghana it tells the story of one young boy who had an idea and was able to make a difference in his family, immediate community village and country. I think it should have a second sub title, "The Power of One"

As a teacher, I find this story's compelling plot suitable and inspiring for all ages. Each of us could make a difference by donating a small farm animal at gift giving times and forgoing one luxury present. Just think of the lives that would be changed!
