Great Read,
By Rich Cain (Scarborough) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leadership: 50 Points of Wisdom for Today's Leaders (Hardcover)
Canadians especially are going to enjoy this read. It's not high-brow like something from Harvard Business School. This is an anecdotal, conversational exploration into the leadership traits that Retired General Hillier developed during his military career. He does take the traits learned to a broader level, yet maintains an Every Man's common sense guide to managing the people within organizations. Read a single chapter in a book store and you'll see what General Hillier is about and you'll likely find yourself still holding this book at the checkout counter.

This review is from: Leadership: 50 Points of Wisdom for Today's Leaders (Hardcover)
General (ret'd) Rick Hillier writes a practical book on the positive aspects of good leadership. This is an essential book for everyone's library and book shelf whether one wants to know what leadership is all about or one who wants to know how to develop their own leadership skills. General (ret'd) Hillier brings his knowledge of leadership from the CF and translates that to everyday leadership opportunities. This is one of the few books on leadership that stresses to pass on values to those who are younger. At any age, one can develop leadership skills through experience of leading. This is also one of the few books on leadership that is practical. So, grab seven of your best friends and go volunteer at a non-profit organization. Learn from your experience, learn from your pitfalls, find out what you value and what values need to be passed on to others in order to develop leadership skills in all those you meet. While you are volunteering in non-profit organizations, observe who are the leaders. Learn from those who are awesome leaders right now. This develops skills that will be with you through your life. Thank you General (ret'd) Hillier for writing such a positive uplifting book on 50 points of wisdom for today's leaders.
