A must have for any birth supporter.,

I think it almost goes without saying. This book is far and away the most complete book about how to support a woman who is giving birth. I think this book is also an excellent read for any expectant mother. This book is not only an informative book to read through, but also an excellent quick reference guide when you're in the middle of labour and perhaps at a loss for what to do next to help the birthing mother. And of course, hiring a Doula is so helpful as well.

Detailed advice for mum-to-be, dad-to-be and anyone else who might be there. Clear and simple enough for the layperson and detailed enough for the health care professional.

Amazing info,

This book was so informative for both myself and my husband. It surpassed what we learned in prenatal classes. There is a lot of information on the actual labour and birth - things that women want and need to know. Included are many strategies and techniques to use during the whole process. Excellent!!!

Bought this before our baby arrived (first baby). I found it helped me get the detail I was looking for. I am the kind of person that really likes to read and to read up on things in advance. I wanted to be somewhat knowledgeable going into my labour and delivery and this book was exactly what I was looking for. It helped me feel somewhat prepared (as prepared as a first time mom could ever be!), and assisted me in making some decisions about what kind of birth plan I would prefer. Obviously you can't really "plan" your labour, but you can have some say in your preferences, hopes and wishes, So you aren't just clueless and at the mercy of whatever hospital staff happen to be on shift when you deliver, and this helped me sort that out. This would also be a good book if your spouse or partner wants to read up on labour and how to assist mom. An excellent book!

We purchased this book on the recommendation of my doula. My husband read through it so that he could be an active partner and I read it to see what types of pain management skills were discussed. I found the guide for the birth plan invaluable and really liked the format. This is an excellent book for anyone looking to have a pain medication and intervention free birth, and it also discusses what will happen if you choose to take medication or have to, or choose to have, some type of intervention.

A friend recommended this book and when I first began reading it I instantly realized it was directed towards somebody supposed to help me during labor, not me specifically. I read it anyway, and to be honest this book will help! I am less afraid of labour now (this is my first pregnancy), and I am aware of lots of different methods to lower pain both natural and medicinal. This book also gave me an idea of the different tests that they conduct during labour, the importance (or non-importance) of the tests, alternatives, and what to expect with the outcomes. I would recommend this book for new mother!
